I have an '07 PSD and have 17,000 miles on her. I was told yesterday from a buddy to have the exhaust removed. So I did. The guy cut out the muffler and put a straight pipe. But now I've come to this site and i hear a lot about the cat. What if i leave it how it is? I have noticed a better accelleration and a lot better sound.I also put a chrome tip on the end of the exhaust.

Thanks, Shane

Robert and I took our kittys to the vet when we put on the 4in from the turbos back. Yes they do spool up faster. Welcome to the SSD.com

i really dont recommed CUTTING the stocke exhaust up...
you never know when some DEALER wank is gonna give you
a hard time about it.

you can buy the cat delete (test) pipe from mbrp (Diesel Performance Parts - Home)
which will allow you to unbolt the cat and bolt IN the
test pipe...you can make the exchange in about 20min !

Ive dont this on three different truck...its very easy and
requires NO cutting.

Ok guys maybe i'm losing my mind. The best I could get on my computer read out was 20.1 mpg on the highway...I got it to 23.2mpg:eek: at 70mph for 20 mins about 12 miles. This is awesome or is something outta wack? It looks like the longer I rode the better it got. I reset my mpg average on the frwy just like the in the past but have never seen 23 mpg!!!! Wow.

youre looking at INSTANT mpg when you reset it on the fly/hi-way !
if you can keep the rpms at 1800 youll get 19-20 but youll get RUN OVER !

steady cruising set at 70mph will net you 18+ on the interstate

(all these # are EMPTY, interstate travel)

Bushpilot is right. I bought the off road exhaust kit and now may have to bring the truck in for warranty work and the dealer is saying the cat being off is a warranty voider... So i have to go back to MBRP and order another $50 or $75 in parts to put the kitty back on.
