Hey everyone,
New to the board. Thought I'd join since my ride's getting up there in age and mileage, and there seems to be a ton of info here.
Been reading for a few weeks, and think this is a great site.
Anyways,
Was out the other day driving around in the mud so i had the manual hubs locked. No problem. 4x4 works fine when engaged, but as I got back on the road and disengaged 4by, I heard this sound coming from the front, kind of sounded like a rattle or a loose chain, or grinding.
It only happens when the hubs are locked and in 2wd. Talking with a guy I work with who had an older 3/4 ford, he said he had the same kind of thing when his needle bearings went in the hub. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this. I need my truck to drive, so I can't just pull the front off to "see" if anything is wrong.
Thanks all.
