Yep, another big hotel fire. Been burning since 11:00 a.m., live stream going on fox news.

nobody hurt nobody trapped, looks like they have it out for the most part now, ill stay a small town firefighter thank you, thats alot of stairs to climb with alot of hose (assuming the fire inhibited the elevators).

I just got back from Vegas on Monday. That casino is (was?) gorgeous.

The last I saw said it was maybe Styrofoam facade that was burning and causing all of the smoke. No inside damage was reported.

well, we use "high-rise packs" which is bundles of hose, a nozzle and sometimes a wye. in a big ole bag you can through on your shoulder, then you take it up and hook to standpipe, in something like that you don't run a piece of hose all the way to the top. i don't want to KNOW what kind of pressure they were putting into the standpipe at the bottom to try and get roughly 100psi at the top. rule of thumb is you loose 1 psi for every foot verticle and that looked pretty high up there!

I know LVFD has several hook and ladders...seen 'em navigating
the streets...the 'rear' driver i saw was doin' some SERIOUS cranking
of his steering wheel !

just the same even if the hook & ladder trucks COULD reach the top
(which i know they cant) of those buildings theres no way in HELL
youd get me up their !
