Does MPG in diesel change quite a bit when it gets cold? I was getting about 17, and since the weather got cold in houston I got around 15 on two different tanks. Is it the weather or should I be worried something is wrong.

Not to Worry. The oil companies start making "Winter Blend" #2 ULSC diesel in about October. It's not as Efficient a fuel as strait # 2, so our engines are not as efficient. MPGs go down some.

As long as the 15 (or so) MPG stays the same ? Not to Worry

Don't forget your warm up time too. Even if you only do it for a few min each time you go somewhere it all adds up.

if your engine doesnt heat up all the way it takes more fuel to get the same power output as a hot engine.

I read somewhere that 10 minutes of idling is about equal to 25 miles driven.

I have a question, most of the stations that I fill up at, don't advertise whether its #1 or #2 diesel, and the "kid" behind the counter never knows. Is it pretty safe to say that everyone switches to the winter blend.
