Ok since new my rear wiper has never gotten all of the window.I tried to explain to the dealer I got it at but seems ford used dealers are not very helpful or knowlgeable.I know it need smore spring tension but how do you go about it.Its starting to get nasty here and would like a bette rlook behind.

I can't locate anything regarding adjustment on the rear wiper arm in the service manual.

Possible to upfit a longer blade for abit more coverage?

Come to think of it we haven't turned on the rear wiper on our X since we took delivery:D

do you need more DOWN force against the window ?
or does the wiper (blade) give enough coverage over all
when it wipes the glass ?

you could look for a shorter spring (would give SOME more
down force against the glass) but it might be TOO much
pressure at of the ends.

a longer wiper blade is easy....buy a longer refill @ wall mart
or some place...but id measure the existing blade and look at
the sweep across the glass to try and figure out what the
maximum length is w/out running off the glass and onto the paint.

i DONT recommed cutting the spring, if i had to go this route then
id look for a shorter replacment (sears hardware, tractor supply or
a truevalue store typically have LOTS of different types)

Yea I need more down force, its barely on in spots.Very easy to lift away from the window too.I was thinking of maybe safety wireing the spriong in a few spots to try and tighten it up as well. The blade length is fine by the way.

I guess it all depends on what you are looking to achieve.

If you need it to cover more area... a longer, replacement blade would be the answer...just make sure it will clear when it makes it's path. Bear in mind that a longer blade will only give a bit more top and bottom...it will not make it go all the way from side to side. The arm is not centered in the rear window.

You would want more pressure if it is missing spots in it's path...but more pressure will not give a bigger wiping area.

For what it's worth...I did go to 22' in the front and left the rear one stock length.

Dang Ryan! that wiper really isn't making contact at all:eek:

You may have to tweak the arm inwards to get better contact(that's what I'd do if it was on my X);)
