The receiver should be stamped with the weight limit, or have a decal specifying the limit. On my 2000 it is to the driver's side of the receiver. IIRC its 10,000 lbs.
My 06- 6.0 has a 2.5 in receiver and it is rated at 15000LB My understanding is that the 2 in. receiver is rated for 10,000lb's and the 2.50 in. is rated for the 15,000 lb's I am sure my hitch will pull anything my truck will. I just don't like pulling from a tongue hitch. Love the Fifth Wheel.
2.5" nice. yeah, i looked at a hitch shop and saw the 2.5 15k- they wanted lots of $$ for one though.
by the way, i take it that the 06 came factory with the 2.5??
Yes, the 06 came factory with the 2.5, it has a sleeve inside that has a Ford part number on it to reduce it down to the 2 in. Everything I have is 2 in. draw bar. That 15,000 kinda sounds like the tail wagging the dog to me.
15k is right, however it comes with lots of restrictions
tongue wt., equalizer bars, etc
there were also a few varitions from ford
some came with 10k frame mounts, some with 12.5k and the tow boss or tow command optioned trucks can get a 15k frame mount hitch
your 03 350/250 should be a 12500 frame mount hitch if its factory
powerboatr-
correct, i went and looked on a lot and they are 12500 w/ 1250 tw
and yes, if memory serves correct, you would need the stabilizer bars at least here in MN for a C5 recieiver w/ that much weight.
