I have an '02 (built 11/01) and have 110k trouble free miles! It has been an awesome truck and I still can get 18-19 on the highway. If I didnt have the bigger tires I know it would be better, but I'll sacrifice it for that. But all in all, I love my rig and plan to drive it until it falls apart!

The 7.3 Powerstroke is a strong proven motor, I have an 02 runs great. As far as I know, no head issues with these motors, they are very reliable. You can still find 02's and early 03's with 7.3, the only real issue with them is the CPS failure but there is a recall on that now, atleast you get a new CPS out of the deal. No other problems as far as I know with the 7.3's, keep the maintance up (oil/oil filter changes- air /fuel filter changes) and these motors will not let you down. Genreal maintance very straight forward on the motors.

Bushpilot,
not pennies but dollars, running and making bio-diesel is a lot cheaper when diesel is 4.29 a gallon here. But I am probally going to keep my 08 because the lame dealer only wanted to give me 21,000 for my truck. Too much to lose to go for an 02. Just going to have to deal with it.

understood were ALL feelin' this pain...but i would look HARD at the
cost of brewing youre own...include the cost to pick up as well
as the electricity involved in heating & pumping it.

if you go the cheap route i think youd be hard pressed to brew
more than 50 gallons a week (via gravity feed/filtering).

the problem these days seems to be in the COLLECTION...rendering
companies are going after "scabs" that are taking the grease they
charge to haul off....and resturants are QUICKLY figuring out that
there are people willing to PAY to have their grease.

the other problem i see is in the local competition...ever diesel car/truck
owner is giving this consideration...and it could turn into a bidding
war or you could find yourself w/out a source if the resturant owner
lets others take it off his hands too.

I talked to the bio guy here in town and he said there is no problems running bio in the 6.4. He has 3 guys running it now in there 08's and they seem to be fine.
