have seen them with very large snow blowers....maybe that is what they should have used there....:doh:

That's a little bit of a whoopsie...:eek:
Yeah eastern Colorado and western Kansas was hit pretty hard during those two blizzards last December.
That derailment was in the Kanorado,Kansas area bout Jan 2nd,supposedly due to ice build up at a crossing.Had over 30 inches snow in that area from the two blizzards.

So did they not have a blower available or did they think the plow would get it?
I saw the other derailment on railpictures.com a while back.

Closest rotary(active or retired) I last know of is out west somewhere in UP's Roseville division but these past one after the other storms I haven't seen the likes of since around Christmas 82 or 83 when I resided in Englewood.

Isn't there an old steam rotary thats still used in the Moffat area on the narrow gauge:D
