hey jageranimal, i am having the same problem. except my thunk only happens when im coming to a stop. i can feel it under the drivers side( at least thats what it seems like). my brake pads have maybe aquarter inch left on them and i am assuming that my shocks are original, although they seem to be working just fine. my thunk has been happening for about six or eight weeks and just recently i started getting a pretty good pull to the right while driving. i have a 99' f-250, 4x4 with 140,000k. i to would like to know if anybody knows what is going on.

One or more brake caliper/pad assembly(s) "Thunking" as they seat & un-seat when brake pressure is applied & released ?

Mine did exactly the same thing. It was the ball joints. You need to get the truck on a lift to see the problem.

i'd be shootin' for sway bar bushings/links or ball joints...

just ask bush or i...:lmao:sly and yes, a lift is best bet to find those issues

i too have a thunk or 'slam' - only when i pull away from a stop in a partial to full turn...been compalining about it since sept. 03. dealer says it is the springs slapping (loading/unloading) and it is common and nothing to worry about..

it is just annoying.:dunno
