I didnt read the thread but I call B.S. I highly doubt the canadian border patrol would let him in with that much of an overload. One of our club members had to buy a new truck in the states when he drove out to race Jackson Hole because the border patrol said they wouldnt let him back in.

People don't realize how stupid they make themselves look when they claim to (or actually DO) overload their vehicles.

I've seen 1/2 ton frames crack from being loaded to 2000lbs on ONE occasion. Of course, the crack doesn't appear until months later.

Have you ever been in a situation where you HAD to do something ... there just wasnt a viable second option? He was going from Texas to Alaska ... it would have been very, very expensive to have someone haul it for him and to time consuming to make the trip 2 or 3 or 4 times with smaller loads.

Sorry, that guy put himself and others at risk by SERIOUSLY overloading that truck. I doubt the Mounties let him pass, too. Couldn't we get a picture that was IN focus, and with a landmark that proved where he was? He could be anywhere!

I can see him doing that... I pulled 68 K once ... for about 14 miles...
of course, that was with a tow strap... and a Feightliner and a decent load of freight.... never went over 35....

I am calling BS. The tires on a 2500 would never have made it that far with that much weight. I have had my SRW 350 up to about 24,000 gross, and that was feeling like a lot. I cannot imagine almost doubling that. If this guy wasn't white-knuckle the whole way up, then he is an idiot, and he is lucky as heck he didn't kill someone.

The last time i towed 43,000 pounds, it was in a Ford L8000 with the 7.8 liter I-6, dual rears, 5 speed with auxiliary transmission (total of 10) and an Eager Beaver pintle hitch trailer. It was a BIG load for that truck. It is an IMPOSSIBLE load for a 2500. If he did do this, then it just proves that God loves an imbecile, and that He watched over this guy the whole way.

Hoss, Your L8000 was over loaded and way under powered for a load like that. He may have hit one to many zeroes when he made that post..LOL

That is totally what i was thinking. My L8000 was 3,000 lbs over gross when I had that load on. 43,000 pounds is a lot of weight for an air-braked, 7.8 liter, 10-spd truck with AIR trailer brakes (when the truck is rated at 40,000 gross).

It is SUICIDAL in a 3/4 ton, hydraulic-braked (and tiny at that) 4-spd automatic with electric trailer brakes. What an idiot.

There was someone trying to justify his load by saying "sometimes you just HAVE to because" and my response to that is that is absolute bullcrap. Pay for the freight, or get your pole building somewhere else. Or, rent an OTR truck witht he capability to haul the load. Just because you made it does not make it okay. He also did not have to "buy a 4-wheeler in wisconsin" or wherever, and the lift that he got wherever else he picked all that up. He was just being stupid, this move was not out of necessity, it was out of selfishness. Glad he didn't come through Spokane, because I'd hate to think he was on the same roads as my wife...

Oh, BTW, just in case anybody was curious, no, I don't even think I would do this with an F-450 or an F-550. I would need an F-650 to even start to think about that load, and even then, I would take it easy...

As a carrier owner that goes into CN there is no way they would of allowed that truck over the boarder. It wouldn't of happened.

As far as the weight that looks more like and issue with the trailer. Hauled over 28k with my gooseneck from CO to MN, but the truck itself didn't have too much over the rear axle weight it was allowed. Just went to a scale and moved the product around until it measured out and road the best as possible and stayed away from scales on the way home.

Excluding the scale between Lincoln and Omaha. I was in between 2 semi's and was staying about 10 yards behind the Semi infront of me. They made both of those pull over. I got the red light and they came on the CB, but I told them I thought they wanted the Rigs not my truck. They let me pass. Thank God.
