I own a 2000 F350 7.3 Crewcab and I am going to replace the motor. I have a line on a brand new motor but when I went and looked at it the sticker on the valve cover says 2001. Will a 2001 work in my 2000 and what changes might i need to make?

Thanks for any advice.:dunno

yeah, should work. If anything, it's a difference in the PCM I would think. Probably somebody around here has done it.

There won't be a big enough difference to make one.

The short answer is "yes", you can use a 2001 engine.

As springer said, yes, you can do it, but to answer your question, yes, I believe that the computer can be re-flashed/burned for different year. Good luck and hope it works out for ya. Let us know if we can help ya if anything else comes up.:sweet

Added Bonus... keep your old one ... if you can as most likely it has forged Rods.... if its a re-manned 01 block... could be hit or miss on the rods...
