You offered to provide the oil and filter Dane why is now that I have to buy it?

The ATL you refer to is a newer oil out, months ago the ATF dropped the Mercon SP rating.

Old info: http://www.buyersguide.com/Transmis...theticUniversalAutomaticTransmissionFluid.pdf
Current Web page: AMSOIL - Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)

If you read my post it says that Universal ATF was rated for Mercon use with the lower viscosity. Now that the ATL is out the Universal ATF has been changed and its viscosity raised. If you read the first link YOU provided it even says under applications Mercon SP.

You don't read so well.

You should go back and read the first post. It says this exactly! "I will supply you the oil and filter (if you choose) at my cost."

End of story.

I don't want to be in the middle of this but I was under the impression that "at my cost" meant you were paying for the oil and filter. Now that I read what you are saying it sounds like "at my cost" means that the test subject buys it for what you pay for it.
Which one is it?

That was my initial impression as well, guess I wasn't the only one to read it that way.

Ok I guess I was wrong and need to clarify.

You have to buy oil do your oil changes anyway. My meaning in this test for the volunteer or volunteers is that you buy the oil to use in the test (Amsoil)at Dealer (My) cost for the purpose of the test. I provide you with a Fumoto Valve and pay up to 100.00 for the lab testing. 20.00 each test so if it goes to the 5th test I will have paid for 5. I hope that helps clear up any confusion on my part.

I am willing, have never used synthetics on this truck. I understood from the start that I would have to buy the oil at cost. My truck usually hits about 3500 miles a month, so it would turn quick, and at least half of those miles are towing a trailer.

I sent a PM.

How many volunteers are you needing to run the test?

Who knows 2 maybe 3 if I find good candidates. It all depends on how much money the CEO will crack loose with also. The more vehicles testing the better information we all get to sift through.

For the other Canadian here. My truck was serviced by the dealer on a service contract and the Oil was changed at 12000Km and the Fuel filter has been changed at odd oil changes interval. I have followed the 6 months or 12000Km interval and find myself at a 6 months interval so I went with Synthetic in November here to help with the hard starting in the cold. I checked the oil on my dipstick and its still quit clear but I will change the filter, I feel the filter is now quit dirty because synthetic oils do a good engine cleaup. I only have 4000Km on the engine since November. So an oil change will not happen soon unless I need to. I ran synthetic in My Volks for 70000 km with no dirt while I was changing the filters regularly. I feel the need to change because of the injectors HP shear but it will not be before 12000Km. But I am very interested in the shear tests. I have used synthetic in Our machinery equipment at the mill since the 80's and never saw any failures caused by oil usage. Even in overloaded, wet Hot applications. You can overheat synthetics with no problems. The reason I went 70000 KM and no more with my Volks is that the engine Crank broke. I took it apart and found the bearings on the crank and Connecting rods were upside down and oil passages were bloked at the bearing. This car had been worked on before I bought it and the installation was not done right. I could not beleive that it held that long with no damage to the engine more then a broken crank. I feel the crank was broken for a while due to the fuel mileage had droped for a while and I felt the low power. This makes me beleive in synthetic more than any other fluid. It is protection that will not cost you a fortune.
