    2018 F-150 Diesel

UPDATE: As much as I was looking forward to the 2018 F150, I just ordered a 2017 F250 CCSB 4WD PSD King Ranch. Supposed to receive it in September.

    2018 F-150 Diesel

3.0L diesel for the F150 is mentioned at the Ford website. I think it said the diesel may be introduced in spring of 2018. I'm certainly liking the new front-end treatments over the 2015-2017 tombstone grilles. I would've bought a 2015 but could not get past the fugly.

I received your PM and sent you an e-mail. I'd be happy to help ... been in this area 31 years now.

    Ladder bars....DONE!

With that pivoting shackle arrangement, those ladder bars are doing next to nothing for you. The purpose of the ladder bars is to keep the rear axle in a "controlled arc." With shackles at the forward ends like shown in the photos, there is no such control imparted upon the rear axle ... the...

    Landyot's radius rods......where?

That's great! Are you falling in love with your X all over again?:sweet

    headlight switch?

Small flat-blade screwdriver ... pry it out gently from the bottom edge. It's held in place by some spring clips.

    Door ajar....

No TSB that I know of, but Ford did start selling a revised door ajar switch. I replaced all 6 of 'em in my old '01, and 2 of 'em were packaged in little cardboard boxes. THOSE boxed units were the old style. The new switches are packaged in plastic bags. BTW, those 2 old style switches did...

    C-Betr Mirrors

No gap on mine. Got 'em back in '03. They do slide on the arms with a bit of coaxing. I like 'em a whole lot better than the OEM "low-profile" mirrors.

    Interesting Concept Excursion

I recall seeing that thing ... Ford's version of the Bummer. Who'd want a crew-cab pickup with a four-foot bed?

    Excursion Tail Light Mod

Nice work! But I think I'll go with the mod CHPMustang did with his tail-lights (used '94 van lights with orange turn signals).

    Rear sway bar

Yes, the manner in which it attaches to the axle. Ford attaches at the pumpkin while Hellwig attaches further outboard (which is better) at the shock absorber mounts.

    Rear sway bar

Cheaper? There are very few mods you can do to an X that will give you as big of an improvement for just the $150 a Hellwig swaybar costs.

    Rear sway bar

Not only is the Hellwig bar itself heftier, but the mounting points (further outboard than OEM) make for a more effective use of the bar ... it provides a torsional/leverage type of relationship advantage.

Helwig - Before the lift or after?

You can install the anti-swaybar now, providing you don't shorten the drop-links 'cause you'll need the extra length later. The ideal installation would have the longitudinal arms of the swaybar parallel to the ground ... which cannot be finalized in your situation until later. OR ... you...
