Also, make sure to get ONLY Motorcraft, Ford or IH Filters for this.... and in this paticular case the Fram is ok.... they are all made by RACOR. The other companies do not put the water block membrane on the primary filter. If the larger filter that goes in the frame rail module does not...- snicklas

No problem.... I am very finicky about my filters..... I will ONLY use Motorcraft or IH Filters.... I know the Purolator is not the only one.... if you look at the WIX filter for the 6.0 (33899) in the picture it shows it does not have the membrane.... The Napa Filter FIL 3899 (which is a WIX)...- snicklas

For you 6.0L owners, this is a valid warning, please read: DO NOT USE the Purolator Fuel Filter F55590 that is spec'ed for the 6.0 (and probally the 6.4) PSD. 2 Stroker, I had planned on keeping a 5k interval even with syn, and I have always made sure to let the truck cool down before I shut it down..... I never "put it away wet".....- snicklas

2 stroker This is the oil that I have been using. I will have to look closer when I am at the store again, as they may have started carrying the synthetic. This oil had been running ~$12 a jug and being 5 qts, I only needed to buy 3. If what I saw the other night is the synthetic for ~$17...- snicklas

Joe, Thanks. With the 6.0 it is so hard on the oil.... going with a full synthetic really doesn't give you the extended change intervals that alot of people use syn. for. The 6.0 shears the oil so bad, it still needs to be changed at the ~5000 mile mark from what I have read. Keeping the...- snicklas

bed weight and traction
What I always did was grab a shovel and pile snow in the bed.... Won't hurt anybody, and it goes away when you don't need it anymore. I do know that my Ex does ok weight wise......- snicklas

Alternator
Sure it was not a smaller pulley..... if the pulley is larger... the alt would turn slower, it would be an underdrive pulley.... to spin it faster you would need a smaller than stock pulley to be an overdrive pulley.... I was looking at overdrive pulleys for mine... and they are smaller......- snicklas

Rims from an E-Series van will work.... As already stated ?? - 97 - F-250, F-350 = 8 x 6.5" 99 - Present F-250, F-350 = 8 x 170mm ?? - Present E-250, E- 350 = 8x6.5" The F-450 + does not count.... they have 10 lugs, up to 11 it think, then the 450 has 8 lugs, but a different pattern...- snicklas

OK... I know the turbo is a good "muffler".... and I would love to let all of that 03 turbo whistle out of the pipe. So a complete straight pipe would drone? I have considered opening up the exhaust on my Excursion. One consern that I have is the "exhaust drone" that may come along with doing this. Currently the truck has the 100% stock, factory exhaust. Trailer tire problems
Fortunatly I have not had any issues with trailer tires.... but one trailer is so old it has ancient BIAS Ply tires on it..... and my flatbed with 4.80x8's seem ok.... but I do not think they are carlile..... Never had and issue on the camper either... but I always keep them aired up.... to...- snicklas

CH302K.... welcome to the forum. I would recommend looking at the tach sensor, which is the 1" pipe plug with the 2 wires coming from it on the drivers side (USA) of the IP Gear Housing. It may have a bare wire or two. May even be weeping oil around the wires... Also, since this is an...- snicklas

Battery Upgrade
I have the Group 65 "blems" in, and are very happy with them so far. The engine is spinning over faster than it has in a long while. The alternator is able to hold a more consistant voltage output.
