    True dual exhaust stacks

Just outta curiosity..when sled pullers mod their exhaust to come out the hood, directly after the turbo, is that to minimize back-pressure? Pros? Cons? I see it often but didn't really know why. That was just my figgerin.

    Tire size makes truck SLOW!

I'd look into another cause to the problem, maybe it recently happened around the time you got different tires? that's a trivial tire size difference. Are you getting oil/fuel? Gauge readings? Start with the small stuff and troubleshoot towards the bigger stuff as you go. Your wallet will...

    Speed

Early 99 stroker: I'm not sure about the downpipe, but the exhaust is 5" straight piped, no muffler, with a 6" tip. Bigrigr: i'll check the RPM's at 85 when I return from Texas. It's pretty high though. Just remembering off the top of my head...65 mph is where I hit 2000 RPM's. Thoughts? Big...

    True dual exhaust stacks

Ok, this is good info. Thanks fellas. I know I want the bullhauler or Aussie or turnouts. I found a 7" bullhauler kit. It'll open it up, but it's not effffin huge like the 16" kit :D As for the piping, how big should my downpipe be from the turbo?

    True dual exhaust stacks

I had one rev up at me while stopped at a stop light. Dodge 1500 lifted rumble bee edition, hemi, stacks, etc. What a pathetic excuse for a race. By 40mph I was 2 truck lengths ahead of him. Hello smoke show, goodbye lil bee :D

    True dual exhaust stacks

I know!! Here in southern Maryland, there's tacky gassers all over the place. There's a '93 GMC s-10 type mini-truck runnin around with 56" stacks. Pulled into the gas station and sounded like a pissed off weedeater. There's also a Nissan Titan here with 5 inch bullhaulers. fail.

    Programmers

Here's my 2 cents. I have the DP F5 "tune on the fly." If I'm correct, you can pick which tunes you want when you purchase the system. At least that's what I was told. It might be worth looking into..I'm kinda hazy on the details of it. Here's their site: Diesel tuning products for Ford...

    Speed

This might be a silly kind question, but i'm ricky bobby and i like to go fast. I like to race people. Just on the street, no tracks. Something I've noticed is that i have mad acceleration (WOO SMOKE) but my truck lacks top end speed. I try not to push my truck past 1300* on the pyro becuase...

    True dual exhaust stacks

So i can basically just cut my current exhaust from the bed near the cab and go up from there? Would that be a 90* angle pipe to bring it up?

    True dual exhaust stacks

i think i'd like to get the bull hauler stacks, or turnouts...and I'm wanting BIG ones. So far I've found some pretty ridiculous kits (eBay has a 16 inch stack kit...overkilll, anyone?) but I think I'd like an 8 inch kit. And flame throwers. Just for show. So i can F*$% with the high...

    True dual exhaust stacks

Long time/no post! Guess that's a good thing? truck's runnin great. I've been thinkin about doing a conversion to dual stacks. Originally I wasn't a big fan, but the idea has grown on me recently. I've talked to a guy who ran true dual stacks on his F-250 (although it was gas..i guess he...

    Preparing for winter!

that's an excellent idea :D:D:D:D i should have thought about that sooner. that's what we do with all of our equipment here in the navy AND on the plane. *facepalm* Brilliant idea! thanks :)

    Preparing for winter!

I know i can just go outside and look, but i'm sick and figured i'd ask :) is the fuel filter in-line on our trucks? I'm not sure when the last time mine was changed. I've heard filling up helps a little, but if I wanna make sure my filter is good too.

    Projector Headlights

Regardless of how the ad sounded, contacting the seller for confirmation is still a good idea. That's more of the point I was trying to make. Not everyone reads/analyzes stuff the same way. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but if it threw me off, chances are someone else was in the same boat.

    In/out of 4 wheel drive

Wow, I'll definitely add that into my routine maintenance. I'd never even heard of that before! Thanks!!

    Projector Headlights

I agree, this strand doesn't make a lot of sense. LOL I have headlights kiiinda similar, except for my 99. 1 round projector-type bulb, 1 regular bulb, and the 3 little LED's on the side. What do you need to know? PS. I'd shoot the seller an email to clarify just EXACTLY what you're...

    Preparing for winter!

Good point. I've taken plenty advantage of being so close to work :) and on the cooler day's that I drive, I've given the truck 20 or so mins to warm up. i usually drive around base for a while, anything to get the temp to normal operating range. But def will keep this all in mind. I know...

    In/out of 4 wheel drive

Feels like I have to put a lot of "oomph" into getting my truck in and out of 4x4. It goes everytime, but i usually have to try pretty hard. Its kind of embarrasing, especially when i go out with Jeeps. They usually have to wait for me to finally get back into 2wd. Anyone else feel like they...

    Preparing for winter!

I replaced the GPR about 6 months ago, in an effort to diagnose a starting problem I was having. A buddy had a spare and I changed it myself.

    Preparing for winter!

Bought 2 new batteries today at Autozone. I went with the gold top Duralast (65-DLG). 1000 crankin amps and 850 cold crankin amps, x2. Came with 3 year free replacement, and I think something about an 8 year limited warranty. Cost about $100 each, after military discount. I guess that's not too...

    Preparing for winter!

hahaha yes. I don't have a problem walking, I've done it pleeently of times. But i never want to leave my truck sitting too long because after long enough, it doesn't start back up. seems like the batteries drain. maybe. i dunno lol. PITA mostly

    Preparing for winter!

thanks fellas! Yeah, I mainly considered the generator idea becuase it's less than a mile to my place of work, so my truck wouldn't have the time to actually warm up like it should. So far, I've been taking 20 mins or so and driving around base to let the temp get into the operating range. ps...
