Ah good--that's what we were thinking after we looked at the pics that came with the directions. I think putting it anywhere near the fuel tank--especially below it--leaves the thing open to an excellent chance of getting seriously damaged or destroyed. Oftentimes I travel in cut cornfields...
Whew!!!! Glad to hear this.....I'm waiting for mine.....should be here today or tomorrow. Also gonna install the 203 thermostat. Hope it goes well--my first official mods.
This is a "new" transfer case we installed.
Bush, by the way, you should know that the guy (good friend of mine) helping me is an ex-airforce mechanic so he knows a lot about wiring, schematics, testing, etc. which is very good for me.....:sweet
Well, first thing we're gonna do is test the motor itself. Guess I was so anxious to get it installed I forgot about testing it FIRST....won't make that mistake again.
Then I guess we'll start by checking the module under the glovebox and I'll check the fusebox today. I looked...
Tomorrow I have someone coming who knows how to test these things so we'll start there.
I checked all the vents last nite and warm air was coming thru all of them as well as the defroster vents.
One thing I do remember is that when I bought this truck the previous owner had installed a...
Okay--could you please explain what the AC/heat would have to do with anything if the hubs weren't engaging or unlocking???
And are you saying that I should be able to lock or unlock those hubs manually with no problem??? They are in automatic right now but I have not tried to move them...
That's the one thing I really miss with my old F150.....the stick on the floor...it was soooo much easier and I never had a problem gittin' into 4X drive. Didn't have to change the hubs but having that stick was the greatest!!!
Unfortunately I don't have a tester here but I have somebody that's gonna bring one over on Wed. I will check all the fuses and the module behind the glove box--will let ya know what I find.
It's a new motor--got it from NAPA but that doesn't mean it couldn't have a problem.
Especially when the shift motor cost me $140....pretty big savings there I would say IF that's what the problem is/was.
I think they were checked when the truck was at the dealer's but I can do it again.
What kind of problems are you looking at relative to getting the truck into gear...
No indication whatsoever. 4x4 lite comes on momentarily when I start the truck but that's it.
I had the truck checked at the Ford agency a while back because of this problem and they told me I needed a new shift motor for $800 which is why I didn't go back. Bought a new shift motor for...
Okay, it's the transfer case motor underneath the truck for 4x4 drive engagement. My truck is ESOF. Hubs are in auto position which is where book says they should be. Followed operating instructions, no indicator lite to tell me truck is in 4x4. Indicator lite does work. Truck is...
working properly. Cannot get the 4x4 to engage....motor is not turning. Just put it in today, made sure everything was connected right but will not engage. Could this be an electrical problem?? Hubs are in automatic which is where book says they should be. HELP!!!!........:dunno
Okay--synthetic vs. mineral??? Some questions:
Can you go "123" from mineral to synthetic? Is there anything special that needs to be done BEFORE you switch over to synthetic? :dunno
Can you do the same thing for the transmission--switch over right away from mineral to synthetic...
Beginning to think fall isn't coming to these parts--temp is 70 degrees today and very humid but very, very dry.....no rain of any consequence for over a month now.
Anyway, at what temperature should an antigel additive be used and what are you all using and recommending??? Lots of them on...
Okay, so I've got the shift motor and I'm ready to install it. Is there anything special I need to know or should know before I start? Any problems I could run into while I'm doing it. Bolts are okay--nothing rusted under there so they'll come off pretty easy.
My grandpop always used to say this when I was a kid........"doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, ya just can't fix stupid"!!!!...:tounge
Pat
Thanks for all the info--looks like Optima it will be. I'll have to check out the local Auto Zone around here to see if they're gonna have a sale anytime soon.
Welcome!!!! You'll really like this forum......everyone is great and knows what they're talkin' about. Lots of knowledge here especially if you're like me and a total neophyte when it comes to diesels.
Stay safe over there and post often!!! :)
Hi Christi:
Welcome to the site. Got my first F250 PSD about 3 mos. ago and boy, wish I had done it a lot sooner. Really enjoying it, love driving it and working on putting some mods in it. You're gonna love yours!!! :sweet
I'm planning on getting two new batteries for the PSD before the cold weather sets in because I think the current batteries may be at least 4-5 yrs. old.
Has anyone put these batteries in their vehicle and since they are more expensive are they worth the money?
