    Brass vs. Biodiesel

So, Clayton, in your opinion, brass fittings are ok to use for wvo, but a custom made (don't ask me how many hours it took me :) ) Linscott-inspired copper fuel pickup is probably not a good idea? I wish I knew that before I forked over the $50 for his 'plans' live and learn I...

    Brass vs. Biodiesel

yeah, I remember that, thought it was due to the galvanized tank, not sure the role the copper components in his system played... :dunno

    Brass vs. Biodiesel

what's WIKI? Craig at Neoteric just cautioned me against using any copper with WVO as well, because of the green slime problem... I guess I'll have to scrap my copper fuel pickup/heat exchanger and fork over the $$ for aluminum stuff. crap :( Clayton, you out there? Have you seen the...

    Aluminum manifold

Found a possible source for the FN74 manifolds, for those interested: Aircraft spruce YMMV good luck.

    Brass vs. Biodiesel

yeah, I am using their tubing, got it Monday, it looks fine. Didn't see the fittings on their site. Was looking to save some $ by getting brass fittings, but it looks like I should get the AN aluminum fittings instead, in case I ever run bio as my start/stop fuel. Where is the AN fittings...

    Brass vs. Biodiesel

maybe CPUNeck can give an opinion on this "drawback"? He has a lot of copper in his system. Perhaps he plans on never running bio. All I've read of problems w/ copper in WVO systems is oxidation/gunk/slime formation. Clayton?

    Brass vs. Biodiesel

Did I read somewhere that brass is not compatible with biodiesel and/or wvo? :dunno :dunno

    Best place to get coolant

Clayton, of course it isn't too late, as you have figured out by now, I think all of these things through (to death, I suppose  ) before making major changes to Bertha. It sure is great to see all you great guys over here. And :thanks to everybody for the helpful discussion...

    Online fittings source?

Thanks for the link, Blue. I like the look of the AN connectors, but the JIC ones are the same geometry (37 degrees) and about 1/3 the cost. Be nice to see a schematic of your system, when do you plan to install? Good to see you here as well. I just did a online chat session with scott...

    Best place to get coolant

Daryl, there you go again, spoiling my ignorant bliss... ;) It seemed like a good idea in my head at the time... I suppose I'll go ahead with the plan stated above. Thanks again.

    Best place to get coolant

Dinnertime thought: what if I moved the AC valve to the heater core inlet hose. Then I could tee off from upstream of that to get always-flowing coolant, and the valve would still perform its (excellent) function of keeping hot coolant flowing over the heater coils when the A/C is on... As...

    Best place to get coolant

I wish I knew, as you can tell by this entire discussion. Have you seen the flow into the degas bottle, I'm hoping that the flow without the filter apparatus attached is significantly higher...cross my fingers, I guess. :dunno

    Best place to get coolant

Yeah, I just hope that that flow will be sufficient. I just remember posts (including yours at TDS) (and my own personal experience) that the flow was less than impressive into the degas bottle...hopefully that was due to the filter itself and not due to the inherent lack of overall flow from...

    Best place to get coolant

I'm unsure what you mean by radiator hose here - which hose, the heater core return hose? I read over at TDS about a fellow replumbing his coolant filter so it wouldn't drain into the degas bottle, with the theory that draining into the degas bottle was effectively bypassing the thermostat...

    Best place to get coolant

do either of those locations flow more fluid? Then the sole function of the t-stat is to keep coolant out of the radiator? What about the dieselsite product in my heater hose, will that pose an issue for my application? thanks again, Daryl and Scott :thanks

    Best place to get coolant

I have the waterpump-derived coolant filter from Dieselsite. Want to extend the system, and use coolant to heat my veggie fuel lines. Is that the best place to get good flow/volume? Bob Riley informed me that coolant is 'always flowing' through that port on the waterpump. What about the...

    Online fittings source?

Need a source for JIC (also known as SAE37) fittings, can't find 'em online, and hate Mcmaster-carr's catalog (way too big!). Looking for fittings for 3/8" pipe, with NPT, barbed, and AN- style ends. Need tee's, Y's, bulkhead fittings and unions. Otherwise I might have to use Jeg's AN-...

    Made my migration

Yup! On today's agenda is to drill 15 holes in my roof for fuel line routing ;) installing cab lights fixing my overhead console (I hope) running wires for my overhead gauge pod for WVO operation: fuel temp, fuel press, coolant temp, and hourmeter !! Should be fun. Except for the...

    Made my migration

Hi folks, just arrived here from you-know-where (sound of whip cracking in the distance...) Thanks to Scott (Sagebel) for the invite. The title of my topic is two-fold, I guess, as I am about to (in a couple of weeks' time), begin my own conversion of Bertha (see sig). I have a few more...
