    I always buy my diesel from the same shell station. hmmm? maybe its time for a different station. I know down here in Florida stations periodically change there tanks, i think it may be due to ground water levels and leaking. this station has been here quite awhile.

    i changed the filter, still had light on. took it out looked down in the bowl, and saw MUD. cleaned it out really well, put it back together light is out. thank you. how often should the bowl be drained? i think it probably would be a good idea to do this to avoid the mud?

    fixed noise problem the other day. then got a water in fuel light on the dash. drained the bowl/water seperator per owners manual. still have the light. drained a couple of more times, still have the light. bought new fuel, still have the light. next i am getting a new filter if that doesnt fix...

    it was the idler assembly rattling due to the belt being old. I changed the belt all good. thank you for all the help.

    pulleys pulleys all seem fine. noise is from the passenger side sounds like from behind the alternator. took oil fill cap off and listened inside cant hear rattle in there. could bad fuel cause a rattle? after the truck warms up it goes away. no noticeable change in performance. runs fine...

    I had a loud belt that was driving me crazy it would warm up and get quiet, but in the morning kind of noisy. I put belt dressing on the belt and got rid of the noise. But now when cold i am hearing a rattling noise from the front somewhere. It warms up and its gone. i think it might be a idler...

    Time to get the truck aligned.....again. I want to change out the axle pivot bushings with polyurethane ones has anyone found these? Are the bushings the same model on my 97 as the ones on a 96? If anyone has found them, where?

    I knew that the oil quality was important, but i was under the impression that if it had the proper rating it was good to go. I will NOT use travelers again. Is it possible to use synthetics in the power strokes? diesel power mag praises amsoil but not sure if it is for all brands.

    the truck has been starting kinda slow, last oil change i did i used ( i think it was travelers brand) from tractor supply for diesel engines. usually i use rotella but they were out. So this time i used motorcraft oil with the appropriate rating etc... If i am not dreaming is it possible...

    Thanks, I replaced the batteries about 1 month ago. truck has 87000 miles on it i havent checked glow plugs yet but if previous posts are correct then my gpr is bad. i think i will try changing it first? how do you ohm out the plugs do i need to remove them to do so?
