Good story :thumbs I thought it was going to end the way you had thought as I was reading, Police pulling up and the book thrown at you.

ANyone work for the railroad or coal mines?

Railroading is not for the faint of heart, particullary if you want to be in the cab of a locomotive. I'm not a railroad employee, but I was looking into doing it for some time and being an avid 'railfan' over the years, here's what I learned; I don't know exact details of all railroads on how...

    Worst Road Trip Ever

That's one for the books. Glad you got it all resolved, and kept cool. Did you have to wash your mouth out with a few bars of soap after your ordeal?

Mice Getting in Excursion! How to prevent?

Another vote for D-con. Put a box or two of it outside by your X.

    Jiffy Lube

I can't believe all the negative experiences from JL, just from here. I've never and will never go to JL for anything, I don't have a problem with them or anything they do (or don't do?), but I always seem to make time regardless of whatever comes up.

    warm up time...

True, you shouldn't have to plug it in, but we have the option to plug it in. It's not hurting anything atleast to my knowledge, plus everything is relatively warmed up when I start it.

    Differential question

Cool, thanks Atk. Just gathering some ideas to get fluid out the best if someone else has a better idea other than what I mentioned.. I've used brake cleaner myself.

    warm up time...

I usually let the truck warm up for about 2-3 minutes in warm weather, when the glow plugs finally kick off (2 minutes?) is usually about the time I put her in gear. I've been plugging in under 40 degrees fahrenheit, I have it on a timer though; it doesn't actually come on until about 12:30...

    Differential question

Anyone ever use any spray cleaners? Such as brake cleaner? Then clean it out with rags, air?

    Differential question

Just curious, what do you guys use/do to clean out the housing when replacing gear oil/adding a new cover?

    Under sized pistons

I'm a Machinist by trade, and saying something is "1/6" of an inch is unorthadox to me. The decimal number (.167) would just be listed as a three place decimal not a fraction. There are common fractions (1/64, 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2) - this is refering to an inspected measurement. Are you...

    SeaFoam?

Looks like I'll be adding some just to the fuel bowl and tank then, thanks Stroker.

    SeaFoam?

Gotcha. Why is there even a market for oil additives for diesels? I know we're the only diesles that are a HPOP system, atleast in street trucks/cars? I bet that has something to do with it.

    SeaFoam?

Nice information guys. I've used Seafoam in a bunch of different non-diesel applications, but this would be the first time I've messed with Seafoam with the PSD. So generally it's a not so great of an idea to run some Seafoam in the crankcase?

    SeaFoam?

I've searched but noticed this particular product has not been mentioned much around here. I'm particularly talking about Seafoam Auto/Marine motor treatment. I've used Seafoam on gas motors through the fuel system, vacuum sources and crankcase of varying mileage, and didn't notice much of an...

which after market air filter assembly

K&N's been good on gas motors, but some will agree that AFE's 7 layer filter system is much better for diesel applications, not to say K&N sucks for diesels but I'm going to go with AFE. I'll probably throw the typical gauges in before anything, that way I can see how well mods are reacting to...

    brake issues!!!!!!!!!!

I used silicone brake grease on the shims and caliper pins if they were dry, haven't had any issues with my brakes since. You think that might be the problem? Something dry is binding up? Inspect the calipers in the front? I wouldn't think they would be causing a problem at only 3 years old...

    Time to identify a sound...

Gotcha. I do believe you're right ATK, will be replacing them this weekend. Thanks.

    Time to identify a sound...

Could be. 60 thousand miles, probably never been replaced before. That number seems kinda low to me? Shouldn't the driveshaft have some play in it though? It didn't budge or turn in either direction the slightest when I just did a quick inspection.

    Time to identify a sound...

I got one other unidentifiable sound I can't figure out where it's coming from as of right now. It's a slight chattering "squeak-squeak-squeak-squeak" - sounds like metal touching something that's spinning, this is from a dead stop or close to it up until about 8-10 MPH then ceases to make...

    Question for the gun guru's

I think an ol' AR-15 will suit your needs, .223 as you said is affordable. Fun rifle to shoot, and there are plenty of variations of the AR-15 to choose from. I don't have to tell you, you're already used to using M16s. I shoot targets both indoor and outdoor. The indoor range I go to, you're...

Whats this called and why is it oily??

That's the Plenum. I think just about everyones builds up the oil residue like that over time.

    Boost leak question?

Alright guys, an update. It was a leak, the drivers side plenum to manifold, the upper clamp wasn't even tight. Fresh oil spotted, I tightened her up and she's sounding like a turbo now. Thanks!

    Boost leak question?

Interesting enough though, my intercooler piping boots aren't oily at all. The pipes have alittle bit of slack in them, which I thought was normal, they appear to be tight. The intake plenum to the manifold boots (orange ones) I haven't really looked real close at those, as stated, the clamps...
