    Oil consumption Big Time!

I am taking donations Well here is the story. A chipped area where the number 8 pink o-ring sits in the bore. Won't seal and they cannot clean it up. Time for a new head. They tested all the injectors for pressure and vacuum and they hold. I hope this test is accurate because the bill is...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

Initial diagnosis in... They put die in the oil and pressurued the rail. Oil getting in the fuel on left bank. No blow by no other issues. He beleives it is a cut o-ring or a faulty injector. I told him to tear it down and figure it out. I will be shocked if it is the o-ring after they...

    smoking pretty bad

man this sounds familiar...check oil level first. If it is low, fill it. Check power...next run a external fuel line from rear of pump to small fuel tank, run it. Is it better? I had all kinds of crud in my pick up screens. Once that was clean my power came back. As for the smoke??? May...

    smoking pretty bad

injector bolts are like 10 foot lbs or 120 inch lbs. If you did not tighten them they may not be seated all the way. I will second the don't throw parts at it! LOL What caused you to change the two to begin with? Did it smoke before? Any check engine light?

    Oil consumption Big Time!

I had to take some cool down time guys...sorry, just I am very frustrated. I took the truck to the best ps guy in the state on Friday. They were going to perform an oil die test to see if it is getting into the fuel rails. Unfortunatley they guy in the shop who was going to work on it had his...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

replaced turbo well looks like all I can do is spend money. I had the turbo rebuilt just so i could eliminate it. Now I think it uses more oil than before. I was suspect of the o-rings that is why I had them all replaced when they did the oter two injectors. I don't think my oil is staying...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

found it Well I pulled the y pipe off and sure enough there is oil in the intake...lots of it. That confirms my turbo is leaking at the shaft seal correct? Can I rebuild it if that is the case? Or do I need an exchange?

    Oil consumption Big Time!

all 8 have now been changed and it does seem a bit worse but could be my imagination. ran another 200 miles tonight and towed 3 repos and had a bonus lockout for some people. My fourth one got put in the garage before I got to it. 1 Gallon of oil per 100 miles. Also had a check...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

update It's better, but still uses oil. It's not leaking it on the ground, it's not burning blue smoke. They changed all the o-rings on the injectors, replaced the other two injectors that were still old. Truck now runs quiet and smooth. First time since I have had it...but still uses oil...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

My family and I decided to go on Vacation for a week to Yellowstone. I am dropping the truck with a good Powerstroke guy I found and he is going to diagnose and repair. I will let you know what he finds. I was going to pull it down yesterday but I got a tip a car I was looking for was going...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

Reason I changed them before was no power, missing, and was diagnosed as having 3 dead injectors. No power problem turned out to be plugged fuel screens in the tank. Compression is good and has no blowby, but it runs like an old Chevy Nova with coat hangers for spark plug wires.

    Oil consumption Big Time!

Sounds like a similar issue for sure. Does yours miss at all? Mine has a rough idle. Wondering if the oil is getting in and making it run bad on one injector. Next question for everyone is if I pull the injectors out again, will it be obvious what o-ring has been rolled or will it roll...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

That was my thought as well but I was told if an injector o-ring was bad the oil would show up in the fuel bowl. Is that not the only place?

    Oil consumption Big Time!

I have to find out what it is...I cannot repossess cars without it. I spoke with a good PS guy tonight and he said he has seen them fill the intercooler with oil until they start running on it like a jet engine. They either blow up or die trying. I sure hope that does not happen to me...

    Oil consumption Big Time!

As my saga contiues on my poor beast. As I fix one thing it is another that comes up. Changed all injectors only to have two of the new ones defective. Changed those with two old ones until I can get replacments. Truck runs good but has slight rough idle or miss if you will. Scan...

Help Needed Help, runs real bad....then good....then bad

I have an update to this sad saga. I got all my injectors in but # 8 was giving me fits. Would go in for anything! When I finnaly compared the inejector to the old one I discovered it was longer! I ordered it from DCP. I used an old injector to put it back together and not I have real...

Sounds like you are getting air in the system. Have you done the hutch mod? http://www.superdutydiesel.com/wiki/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=18 I have also seen those air dog systems to eliminate air from the fuel. Anyway I don't think that is my issue as mine does not get better...

still down and on the side of the road. Well I went and double checked everything...was not getting fuel to the bowl...discovered my own mistake that I had the wires backwards on the pump. Switched them and it started up. Still no power. I filled the tank to the top hoping if it was sucking...

Help Needed Help, runs real bad....then good....then bad

Still down I had it in a shop and they said I have 3 bad injectors 1,3,and 8 and he thought it was a fuel pump as well. I put the fuel pump on and it started once. As soon as I pressed the accelerator it started losing power and died. I attempted to restart without success. I am going to go...

It was 15w40 and the fuel was low...about a 1/4 tank but the issue continued good and bad all the way to empty when I took my spare can and put 5 gallons in it...1/4 tank (20 gallon tank). You think it is sucking air??

There was no check engine light on and oil level was fine. Just changed it last week as well. I will scan and will try to test fuel pressure tomorrow.

2002 F450 7.3 260K miles. Was running great then fell on it's face...no power..missing...then a few minutes later perked right up....then about ten miutes later...horrible. This kept progressing until it died. Was able restart with effort. Changed fuel filter and was a bit better but still...
