    203 Tstat from Bob Riley

I was told long ago that Gates Belts & Hoses were a premium product compared to OEM. What do you guys think? FF, I got this off Bob's site: Here's a little background on the Ford Powerstroke thermostat... Until 1996, all 7.3L Powerstrokes that were manufactured used an International...

    203 Tstat from Bob Riley

Bill, $10 are you kidding? I'll get them tomorrow, geez... hheynow, I thought the OBS had 203 stats, it was 99+ that Ford went to factory 195 stats. But what the heck do I know. Personally, I don't have a problem with the OBD guys chiming in. Dennis

    Excursion A/C Modification

Great! I'm interested in the info! i've recently moved to Minnesota & the summer here gets warmer than Mich due to the Great Lakes! I'm thinking the Mod would help a bunch, especially during trips down south.

    203 Tstat from Bob Riley

I have not done the hose yet. I originally figured i would allow my stockers get a little older & then swap them out. lately, I've been thinking about it just getting it over with & swapping them out. How old do heater hoses get before needing replacment anyway?

    Why the difference in $$$

Hey Bill, didn't you reinsulate your cooler lines a few years ago? I remember checking out your sig when your rig was new & you had pics and instructions for that & cab lights. I've been thinking strongly about coating the cooler lines to help fight corrosion and insulate them for better...

    203 Tstat from Bob Riley

I don't usually start posts about mods I've done, I generally reply with my experience when someone asks, but I'm quite happy with the results on the X, so here it goes! Not to mention it's an affordable mod. I installed the 203 stat and billet housing from diesel site & I am absolutely...

Rear Axle Howling at 89,800 miles

No, I haven't yet. I'll be hopefully tearing into it this week.

Rear Axle Howling at 89,800 miles

My truck must be trying to tell me something. I've never had a rear axle failure before. This seems too low of miles to be having trouble. I had the fluid changed around 45,000 miles & was ready to do it again. The manual says to change it every 100,000 due to synthetic from the factory. Is...

    Rancho RS9000X Shocks

How cold is cold? Minnesota & Canada can see -40 to -55. Are cold temps and higher elevations the culprit? I'm glad you chimed in here because I'd hate to be swapping shocks every winter, even under warranty. Thanks, Dennis

    Oiling Ball Joints

Shouldn't hurt, but local parts store should have a grease needle to actually squirt grease in the same way. I have moog greasables in mine & I can tell the steering gets lighter/easier every time I grease them every 3-5,000 miles. The gear oil won't stay in there like grease will, you...

    Rear springs????

Bruce 1954 has an excel sheet with spring rates, capacities & changes in ride height. I'm unable to find it in my files, I'm sure he still has it. I plan on swapping all the springs on our X this spring, the F250 CC rides better, than means the X can ride better.

    Alternator Died at 69,000 miles

No on the dust. No on any additional loads. Superchips & driving (2) 55w driving lights are the only electrical add on with this one.

    Alternator Died at 69,000 miles

First, battery light came on dash. Second, stopped truck, popped hood, alternator was literally "smoking" (when I removed it, it smelled like electrical wires melting). I didn't bother to put a meter on it. Lastly, replaced it with new & all is well.

    Alternator Died at 69,000 miles

Does it seem unusually low mileage for my Alternator to get cooked? I thought it would go at least to 100,000 miles. This may be incorrect thinking, so I'll ask you experts. I installed a coolant filter kit last week and mounted it on the radiator between the coolant hose and air intake...

    WVO

Extra Virgin Oil isn't Waste Veggie Oil, why couldn't you just dump straight Extra Virgin Oil right in with the diesel. 5 Gallons for $6 is a deal for fuel & were not supporting the towel heads either. Sounds like an easy answer in the middle of the hot summer heat. Am I missing something...

    Wheel Bearing Failure at 89,000

Thanks Dale, I look forward to doing business with you. I replaced the yellow oring seal, but the dealer didn't have the inner seal which goes between steering knuckle & outer drive axle. They said that I needed a special tool to replace it anyway. What are your thought's? I would like to...

    Wheel Bearing Failure at 89,000

Lifetime Warranty!!!! My concern would be: are these of same quality as OEM or better. Looks can be deceiving, it's tolerances, quality and assembly that make the bearing. It's all relative. If the bearing only lasts half as long as OEM at half the price, I'll stick with OEM. But if if...

    Time for shocks

No problem, how much is the set worth to you. I always sell off what's left over for a deal. What I may do is buy a different set for each truck to try them out side by side, then replace the lesser shocks. I was hoping someone could narrow down my choices though.

    Time for shocks

Interesting point for shocks, diesel vs. gasser. How's the Edelbrock's ride & perform? My concerns or thought's are that unless you have installed both brands & ridden in both. How could anyone really give a solid opinion? Working in the RV toy industry, I routinely bought and tested...

    Wheel Bearing Failure at 89,000

I have been expecting this to happen due to the posts I've read on the subject. It was the Front Passenger side bearing on my 01'. I should probably buy one for the driver's side and set it on the shelf in the garage. My wife's 02' has 69,000 on it, so it's only a matter of time until we need...

    Time for shocks

Where's the best place to buy bilstiens? I would prefer to order from a loyal sponsor. Are bilsteins the best choice for my 02 X & 01 CC 4x4?
