Ordered my new rear pinion seal. This ought to be a lot of fun. Well, a learning experience at least. Then on to the front end bushings, ball joints, tie-rods, bearings maybe. :D
Time for new bushings and I have read somewhere in the past that your not supposed to use some type of bushings for the steering because it will cause something to break. I have searched and for the life of me I CANNOT find that info anymore.
Any of my fellow SDD breathren know what I'm...
From what I read, Bilstein shocks are the way to go. Lots of members here have them I'm sure they will chime in. I have Bilsteins on my Christmas list. :D
I'm paranoid. I flushed mine with distilled water. 20 gals at the store was 20 bux. And I know its clean water. Then refilled with IH Fleetguard. I went the concentrated route. That way after the antifreeze was all in and then the water added, I knew I had 50/50. No chance of having water left...
Wow lemme know how that works out. I have NO room for one in my truck. It probably doesnt get near as hot in SC ( but I bet its close ) as it might in TX, but I ran my tymar all summer and never had a heat problem. My EGT's actually dropped. You having heat issues?
I saw these seals on TV called SEALS-IT. Kind of a triple seal deal that racers use. Anyone used these? They are only like 30 bux or so. While I'm tearing mine apart to do the same thing I'm gonna get the best. I'm sure i only want to do this ONCE.
Will do Dave. Thanks. Im assuming when my batteries went bad some acid got blown around? There was some in the bottom of both trays. if that's all it is then no biggy. WHEWWWW! I had never seen that before and was getting a little anxious.
Batteries finally crapped out. Got 2 new Duralast Gold Tops. Now just need to figure out what that white snow looking crap is thats starting to get all over my alternator and ac compressor. Any ideas?
Hot damm 94F! I'm happy for you. Take your time and fix 1 little thing a week. Shoot in a few months you'd have it probably looking alot better then mine. And I paid alot more then 700 bux for mine. Something I forgot to mention is hit those salvage building material yards. You would not believe...
For that price? Since you can do it all yourself, looks worth a shot. ( and better then sleeping in the truck ) even tho my backseat sleeps wonderful! don't ask me how I know. HAHA.
Fix whats wrong on the cheap cheap, $100 driveway paint job ( if it really needs it). I see no reason why it...
Found my first leak. 1 drop of gear oil under the front ( passenger side). Wet on the knuckle. What am I looking at guys? 1 person told me a seal, another said the whole unit had to be replaced. It's the DANA 60 front end on the truck in my sig.
Thanks guys. John
Here's the deal. I want to flush my brakes on my 250 and my suburban. With ABS brakes I was told the best way is to gravity flush them. Slower I know but no chance of compressing air into the fluid. My question is, would it be harmfull to leave the engines running while I do this? IF it flows...
After being on this forum for awhile? I have absolutely NO probelem working on anything on my truck. There are some VERY smart guys that come here and can walk you thru just about anything you need/want to do to your truck. These guys that do the writeups even explain the little ( I wish I would...
I like the 3 dollar mod better! Times are tough. Tell us how you did it? Pics?
Im not electrically brilliant but I can follow directions extremely well. LOL
Do you have to replace the interior parts too?
If it's leaking up top, I'm sure there will be some interior damage too. IE. Ceiling damage? re-finish ceiling? Sprayed ceiling? smooth? water damage to rafters? Or just just replacing the skylight itself?
Or is it just a faded skylight? If thats...
