its probably better, for those that are interested in building one, that
it isnt carpeted.

btw ive purchased automotive grade <color matching> carpet
at the car toyz...but just about EVERY car audio shop should have
it.

The net box I build, I'm thinking about covering it with fiberglass resin and painting it...what do you think??

'bout like chrome to me :roflmao

the finish ive seen using that stuff looks clean but
its not for me...and it never seems to look "factory"
which is something i strive for....if i cant make it look
factory then i tend to try and HIDE it.

and honestly...its behind the seat...carpet the thing...
itll look OEM (what little anyone will EVER see of it).

other thing to consider is how its gonna hold up to the seat
hitting it...heres what it looks like CARPETED (to match)

You have a kicker solobaric back there don't you?:sly I bet that sounds good. Do you build that box yourself?

nope had someone put the box together, i did the carpet & mounted
the speaker.

I WISH i could move the seat forward.

it hits harder w/ the seat down (got a little more room to move).

get you some washers and mount them under the seat it will raise the seat up and allow extra room between the seat and the speaker.

I did end up flipping my seat brackets around. Yeah there's less leg room in the back, but it's still more than my wife's Grand Cherokee.

The speakers hit a LOT harder with the seat moved forward too. I was kinda bummed at first at how little they were pounding but MUCH happier now.

Still wish I would gone with 12's though for a little extra BOOM. But I'm starting to get too old for that stuff.

EDIT: And I know I'm slacking on the pics. Camera batteries are dead and I keep forgetting to charge them.

yeah i actually have some SPACERS (cut from billet alum)
that ive been trying to find some time to install.

from what i understand the problem is that when you
add the spacer to the front mount it pulls the seat FORWARD
(not just UP)...so you really need a concentric spacer for the
rear bolt/mount.

not a viable option w/ the 2003-current mod. year rear seat system.

need more POWER...im enjoyin the hell outta my JL 500/1.

the SQUARE solobarics 20% more area (bigger) than a conventional
speaker fo the same size...so a 10" solobaric hits like a heavy 12"
(but has the solobarics have the advantage of requiring less depth,
an important consideration in 03+ trucks.)

i honestly dont see the need for multiple subs...500w (rms) behind
a single 10" solobaric is enough to vibrate every bit of glass & mirrors to
the point that you cant see out the mirrors

Vibrating glass and mirrors is the easy part, bass that you can feel in your chest is much harder to accomplish, and to me much more desirable. I prefer to "feel" bass rather than to just hear it. But then over the years I've had everything from two 8's, to two 12's, to a 15, and now two 10's.

And JL also rates the 10W1v2 and the 12W1v2 both for 150 watts RMS, so more power wouldn't really be needed if I jumped up to 12's. But for now the 10's are fine, got other things to spend the money on.

I would strongly recommend a much wider box to get the low bass you are lacking! I have been in the bus. since 1986!

agreed, and trust me you can feel the base in mine just fine...i dont
need the cars next to me to feel or HEAR it.
