started the truck up,let it warm up in the driveway for a few mins and nothing out of the ordinary
drove 2 miles to the gas station and put in 15gals of fuel, left the truck idling while pumping fuel, running fine

go to pull out from the station, and the idle dropped and engine stalled

cranks and won't start
called a buddy and towed the truck home

tried starting again and nothing, just turns over, doesn't start
at 1 point it sputtered a little after numerous attempts of starting but won't light off

did some reading and figured I'd start with the CPS, (still have the original OEM 132000 miles)
put a new gray CPS in and still just cranks and won't start
disconnected the batteries for 30mins, cleaned the terminals and reconnected

cranked her over and she lit! oh joy, my baby is fixed!...NOT!
let her warm up a few mins and she starts sputtering then seems like it dropped 4 cyls, (loping really bad)
gave it some throttle and it smoothed out, back to idle and loping bad then died

tried to restart and it lit off but loped for 2 secs, then died

cranked it over again and nothing, just cranks but won't start

I also tried diconnecting the ICP sensor with the same results

I did open the drain on the back of the filter housing and clean fuel came out.
(I used a hose and clear bottle to contain the fuel)

I also turned the key to the on position with the drain opened and it looked like a steady stream of fuel coming out and almost filled a 2 liter bottle in a short time.

This ordeal started 2 days ago.

Today, I changed out the IPR...

...drained the HPOP res with a hand vac pump and refilled with fresh Rotella 15w40 to within 1/2" of the top

Still no start, just cranks and not even a hint of firing up.

Daylight is gone so tomorrow after work, I am goin to pull the valve covers to check the UVCH connections.

any help is appreciated

Maybe the CPS? They have a history of dieing and causing a no start. They are pretty cheap at Ford or IH.

Does the Tach move and is the WTS light lit when you crank it ?

Test & Check all the fuses.. In the cab and under the hood.

is your new CPS a parts store one or a Ford/IH one?

access to a scan tool? Even though the SES light isn't on, there might be codes..

If it were me I wouldn't over look the obvious........bad/wrong fuel.

Also, all that cranking pulls down the bats. Unlike a car these engines will turn over fine but in the absence of sufficient/correct voltage to the computer they won't start.

Put the battery charger on the truck over night and look into testing a known good fuel source. ie - drop a hose from the pump into a 5 gal can with fuel from a different station. Cycle the pump with the fuel drain open to get the new fuel to the bowl.......then close and try and start.

when I get home from work, I'm gonna check all fuses, (under dash and under hood), then pull the valve covers to check the UVCH connections.

I bought a parts store CPS since it was Sat night and no chance to get an OEM

I will charge the batts while working on the other stuff tonight

As far as the fuel, I will have to figure out a way to connect from the frame mounted pump to a can...

I'm hoping a friend of a friend comes thru on the scanner...
