I did that once several years ago. Having to fix the cord when it's -20* F has a tendency to make one better remember to next time unplug the heater cord first.

It's kind of like not remembering to latch the trailer coupler to the trailer ball, you'll only forget to do that one time.

Never have done it yet, but I did pull into the driveway and park for three days only to find out on the fourth day when I wanted to plug in that I put the left front tire right ontop of my extension corp plug end.

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me--I wondered what that thing was moving in the driveway as I backed out and only then had the "DOH" moment when I realized that I hadn't unplugged.

So far I haven't pulled it out yet, but have only used it a few times and I park the truck on a little hill in the back yard where I have to walk up to the front of the truck.
