Last week I changed out the water pump. Along with that I changed the coolant temp sensor (I broke the old one trying to get it out), changed to Zerex Gold coolant, installed a new coolant filter, put in a new t-stat and a Dieselsite aluminum t-stat housing.

Ever since then the engine will not warm-up to normal range. I've changed the temp sensor at first thinking it might have just been an indication issue, it wasn't. The upper radiator hose is warm to the touch at best.

We just finished changing out the recently installed t-stat thinking it may have been leaking. But that didn't change anything.

What else could it be???

Maybe the T-stat is stick open???? Only thing I can think of. Take it out and throw it into boiling water and them into cool water. Works?

Boiling and cool water is to vague. Get a thermometer and watch the t-stat open
and close as you heat and cool the water to see if it opens and closes
at the correct time.

I might be way off, but did you install the correct t-stat? I recall that they
are somehow special in length.

The t-stat I put in with the new water pump was the special Dieselsite hi-temp one. The second one I tried was a regular one from Autozone. There is no change in operating temp with either brand new t-stat.

It has to be something with:
1-New water pump
2-Dieselsite t-stat housing or
3-New coolant filter

Everything else has been eliminated as a possible cause. 2 different t-stats & 2 different temp sensors.

The indicated temp I believe is acurate. After driving down the highway for 20+ miles, I can grab the upper radiator hose and hold it, not comfortably, but I can grab it.

If everything was as it's supposed to be, I should be getting a scalded hand.

New or rebuilt water pump?

Dave
Brand new, limited lifetime warranty.

Are you 100% positive that you dont have air in the system?
About as sure as I can be. I drove from home to Nashville so I'm pretty sure all the air got purged out.

Coolant is circulating. I can see it flowing into the degas bottle from the coolant filter.
