thanks, Bro-ham..
now I really owe ya a beer..
that's a handy piece if information.
I had buddy at the Lincoln-Mercury dealer overnight me one out of Warren
He says yesterday, "Yeah, I sold my Superduty."
He had a 350 CC dually with the V10
I told him, "should've given me a call... I'm gettin kinda tired of fixin this rag all the time..."

oh yeah..
this time, I threw the scanner at it, it comes back with a KOEO P1663 FDCM Circuit fault..
#29 under the hood good fuse
#30 under the dash good fuse
pin 80 got power

switch to data
RPM reference while cranking
cam & crank sensors good
"0" Injector pulse width

drag out the ol' DVOM
flip it to 120v scale
plug in the inductive probe..
clamp it around the IDM loom
nuthin'

Cardone can rebuild a waterpump like no one's business
but I swear, the last time I used a Cardone ECM on anything, it was throwing codes before it even left the shop
and the last time I used a Cardone MAF Sensor, you could smack it with a screwdriver handle and kill the engine.

WTF is wrong with my head that made me think "3rd time's the charm?"

Seen a few IDM's with water in them already, and I just got into deisels myself. The first one I opened looked just like an audio amplifier.. the mosfets had fried and a couple of runs on the board.

I think I might drill a hole in mine, so it drains

hopefully for more than a couple days this time...

I'm gonna rip the Cardone unit apart and see what went up in a could of smoke and a hearty hi-ho Silver..

wife has told me to sell the thing..

I'm thinkin trade it for an OBS with an IDI motor..

Well you are not the only one with electronic issues. I have been battling a onan generator with a kubota diesel. First it would not start and run, had a short in the circuit board. Now the field in the generator is shorted out and I need to find one. :rant

find a place that fixes electric motors, and have them rewind it.
