just had a good ride (ran some errands) shot the BACK of the
diff (on the fin'd cover part) w/ my fluke laser thermometer....

temps on the DIFF cover were around 113-118...at the FRONT
of the pumpkin temps were in excess of 138

pep boys @ 9.99 per quart & oreillys auto parts @ 11.00 per quart.
My O'Reillys price matched pep boys on the royal purple lube....

The Rear calls for 6.9 pints (of 75w-140)
The front axle calls for 5.8 pints (of 80w-90)

Royal Purple 75w-90 (for the FRONT) would be the one to use.
Royal Purple has the limited slip lube already in it,no extra needed,
so they say

I bought:
3 quarts of 75/90 for the front &
4 quarts of 75/140 for the rear

My front took all three quarts....I could only get 3 <full> quarts
in the rear. I have no chattering <ltd slip> problems, so for now i
see NO reason to add additional friction modifier.

All right! Got the Royal Purple from O'Reilly's. $11 a quart. I could have saved $2 a quart and either ordered it from the net or ran clear across town. I paid for the conveinience factor.

Now when my cover gets here and we are good!!!!!!!! Yippee!!!! :thumbs

O'Reilly's price matches dude...I was gonna run 'cross town
to save the TWO bucks per quart TOO...but like you thought
my time was better spent...when i started to check out at O'Reilly's
I asked the counter guy...they called pep-boys and verified the 9.99
price and matched it !

hey bush, did you get a diff. cover for both the rear and front, or did you just get one for the rear, but changed the fluids on both?

yeah changed the fluids in BOTH <f & r>, new cover
on the rear.

Ive never been crazy about them having conventional fluid
in the front and synth. in the rear...

fact of the matter is no more than the FRONT diff is locked
youre probably just fine to use conventional fluid...and you
probably dont need a fin'd cover either.

the rear is factory filled w/ synth. 75w140....i feel no diff...would
hope NOT TO...since the royal purple is 75w140 synth. too.

I havent used the front diff yet (got a grease fitting issue after
i installed new ball joints).
