I had to have two inj. put in and the rest were cleaned and the replaced the HP pump and cleaned the fuel rail. I have been driving the truck a week to day after getting it from the dealer for repairs. But now theres a stumble just as you take off and a good size puff of black smoke. Here's the funny part, you can here it getting ready to do it because you can not hear the motor at the air intake. It goes quit you get the smoke then you here the motor again. It almost sounds like it's starving for air but it's not, the filter is clean.

EGR goofing up... I've heard of the motor going quiet with the egr misbehaving. That would also account for the smoke... no air in the exhaust gas. Was the EGR serviced while they were in there? Could be time for a cleaning, 'specially if you had injector problems...

yes, it was service. I put my tuner on the truck and set it on stage 1 and the problem went a way. So now I'm thinking the inj. timing is off or something like that?

Maybe the guy screwed with the egr and goofed up one of the o-rings, and it's leaking past now?

Well I got a good one for you. I think I found the problem. I change the oil early by a 1K miles this time. I pulled the filter and it was missing the bottem part of the filter, the plastic bottem. Put in a new filter and changed the oil and it's running fine for now.

I'm going to check the EGR today, just to be on the safe side.

where the HELL did the filter base go ???
what kinda oil filter are you using ?

if theres no BASE on the filter then it would keep DRAINING back...
(since itll never close the "filter" drain valve)
