that dealer is an IDIOT...and hes likely trying to avoid an IN WARRANTY
repair <gets paid less hours, at a lower RATE by ford>

I bet if you were outta warranty he'd take you in right way <cause
hed charge you the FULL rate and FULL hours > !

based on the "odor" and over fill level you likely have leaking injectors....
hows your MPG ? worse i bet !

either that or where ever you got the oil changed they refilled w/ 15 quarts
(a common mistake) instead of the 14 quarts.

i'd pull an oil sample and send it to blackstone-labs.com and have them test
it...its highly likely youre gonna have to PROVE that youve got a leaking
injectors.
15 QUARTS A MISTAKE THIS IS WHAT THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS THE CAPACITY IS.

My dealer told me the same thing. I put less oil in on my last change. I got 4.39mpg on a run last friday pulling my 10k travel trailer into a head wind at 65-70 mph in the Texas hill country. I know I had some things working against me, but come on, 4.39 is the worst mileage I have ever even heard of.

I am going to check my oil tonight and see if I am "making oil" again. Then I guess it is time to find a new dealer.

4.35 are you kidding me. Our trucks are flat top freightliner century classes pulling a dry van and we avg around 6.5 with a detroit 60 series engine in them. The new dd15 motors have gotten 7 with the same set up.

Ford Really needs to take care of that problem. I know if I were you I wouldn't be a happy person with fuel at 5.00 a gallon.

4.10 gearing

It is over full again after a 600 mile run. I changed my oil last week and set the oil level to the lowest setting on the dip stick. Now it is all the way up about 5-7mm up on the shaft. I am taking it in on Tuesday. What can it be other than injectors?

Thanks for any ammunition you may provide for me to take with me on Tuesday.

fulltilt. your injectors are bad. and this problem will ruin your main bearings in a short time. get this truck to a different dealer asap. if we could all "make" oil, we would all be rich.

it is in the shop and they are testing the oil right now. they say ford told them to drain the oil and see how much fuel is in it. sounds like they may be on the right track. I hope they can get it done soon because I need my truck Friday.

Thanks for your helpful responses.

Are they sending an oil sample off to some lab ?
Theres no other way to determine the % of fuel in the oil.

Ford has historically allowed a higher percentage of fuel in
the oil (more than likely in an effort to avoid warranty repairs)
than most testing labs feel is SAFE.

Just the way i am but i would want my ON sampling and report
results to compare against the shops.
