Wow, haven't been here in a while - need to change my sign line :)
Actually, what your service manager says holds little sway with FORD corporate...
Now he MAY be able to buffer you a bit when that rear end goes out, but Ford will insist on proof of the need for repair and one of the bits is a...
I guess I'm the exception to the rule then....
With a remote starter and 100 degrees here in Texus and a sweaty body :)
I idle a LOT.... and so far, 110k miles, no worries....
Now I DO "excerSOREsize" the engine extensively, so maybe that short circuits any potential issues....
YRMV, but...
that fer sure is your fan, just at high rpm's it sounds more like a whine....
here in Texus heat, it is usually a ROAR for me because it comes on at low rpm's like when just starting from a stop lite in traffic....
Personally, I would stay away from anything edge...
it does NOT tune the tranny and the nice 5 speed auto in my 05 Ex isn't something I want to ruin...
Heck for < $400 you can get a NEW custom tuned sct that will make that Ex scream like mine :)
There's a REASON the seller is selling it ...
Hmmm, similar sound but no leakage....
mine is when I make a right hand turn and accelerate....
I was guessing more from the back than the front....
and seemed more like maybe a rear end, u joint, driveshaft spline ? wheel bearings ?
haven't figured mine out yet....
IF you don't need the gearing,
I always put it in 3rd for smoother throttle application at the low speeds....
otherwise 1st gear and turbo spooling or shifts or bumps WILL make the flow rather jerky :)
To each his own :)
but IMHO... NO contest.. sct all the way...
best driveability, best tranny control, best power if you want it...
not SURE they have all the kinks worked out of the new livewire, but the SCT has been a proven platform for years... SCT Flash Devices - MORE Power . . . Period!
I like beer too :)
SO - I dropped the truck off and my local "Exhaust and Taco" shop...
paid them $40, went and played golf and had some beers, then came back to a NICE turbo back exhaust on my old 03 Ex !
Some have reported warranty issues for things liked dusted turbos and being blamed on the air intake..
It's up to mother Ford whether or not to cover something...
sometimes your dealer can try to help, but it's ford that makes the decision...
personally, I've stayed away from intakes, but I...
Oops - on edit - didn't realize I was responding to a 2 yr old thread :) Dooh !
I got a refund of about $900 when I traded my 03 Ex in on the 05.... it was a pro-rated portion too...
long story longer though - it was the original warranty on my 02 that ford bought back cuz of the troubles and...
