This option provides WARM (NOT HOT!) air almost instantly. Don't expect miracles. Having said that, it is a nice option for the price. Retrofit? It probably means removing the dash to get to the HVAC plenum...other than that, I have no insight. Check out a service manual? Good luck...joe
A guy I work with had a similar issue with Mercedes aluminum wheel (he was "over-served"). He got it fixed locally, but it wasn't cheap. It came out PERFECT, but it cost over $200. Any good weld should be stronger than the parts joined (as least in steel)> Good luck...joe
Velcro a piec of indoor/outdoor carpet on the tail gate. It will by unobtrusive (when removed), protect the gate and most of all protect the dogs. You can just rip it off and roll it up when you don't want it on there (I'll bet you leave it on more than off)...Regards...joe

I agree...whatever will dissolve the gunk. more often its the hardened grease rather then the rust that hangs these latches up. That's why I stopped using grease and went to oil.
I've had the same issue on my 1994 Yukon. Before you lubricate , clean it. Often, the grease buildup will cause the latch to stick. Spray it with some kind of solvent (diesel in an oil squirt can or WD-40 like I used) Get inside the mechanism like with the swizzle stick attachment and get the...

I don't know how the process is supposed to work, but dealers may be holding the vehicles until the y get the goverment money? Is the goverment part owner of the vehicle? :dunno
