    Got my B-Day present, S&W 327 TRR8

Even with several guns including a Sig 226 with dual barrels I still like the wheel guns. I could not pass up this new one from S&W and it holds 8 shots of 357 mag, 38+P or plain ol 38 target stuff. To make things nicer, my neighbor gave me a set of RCBS 357/38 carbide dies and about a thousand...

    Ready high winds last weekend!!!!

I was at Willow Springs raceway near Edwards AFB for a vintage sportscar race and we had some terrific winds! I have a bed cover named "Fold-a-Cover" and it usually sits down well when folded and the 5th wheel is used but it nearly blew loose. I unfolded it and clamped it down well and the wind...

got a new laptop!!a question as well

Good selection on the laptop, just don't use it while driving as I see people in San Diego doing all the time.... I use those little eyeglass cleaners in the packets that Costco sells in a big bos and use them on my home monitor also. There is a little bit of cleaner, just enough to wet and...

Nope, I'm not an executive anywhere any more!! I had enough of that stuff and am much happier as a tech person!

    world wide web today

It could be a ripple down from the Pakistan government trying to block U-Tube for the whole country and it really messed up the 'net in the middle and far east. We have customers in Singapore that had trouble connecting to our site here in San Diego and a trace route showed some gapping holes in...

Ka-Boooom got to shoot the 50 caliber

Several weeks ago I bought a Thompson Center Hawken 50 caliber kit from a racing friend of mine. It was one of the older kits as I had to blue everything but the wood work was fantastic and all I had to do was some smooth finish sanding and a good polish of the brass to get out the sanding...

    Trailer Tire input please?

For both the trailers I owned, first an open flat bed and now a modified toy hauler I inflated the pressure to the max on the sidewall. Several tire shops and racing friends said it reduces the sidewall flex that causes heat build up and possible tread failure. I did not do this at first on the...

The Ultimate Dually (I'd buy it)

How and where would you turn it around? I'd rather have something like this....

Rear Wheel Spacers for the Dually???

I think I'll put some white paint stripes on each inside tire and see if it transfers to the outside tire tomorrow. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Rear Wheel Spacers for the Dually???

I did some additional searching and found some info on other sites and boards where several F350 dually owners had installed 1/4 or 1/2 inch spacers between the rear wheels after doing to the 235 size tire from 215. The failures seemed even between the loaded and unloaded driving too. My door...

Another tire failure on the dually??

Thanks for the info everyone. I was checking the tire pressures at least monthly and since the failure in Dec I check them weekly now. I also have been measuring the tread depth and so far it is even across the width so the tire pressure has had little effect, at least in the amount of driving I...

Another tire failure on the dually??

Opps, the tires are(were) rated load range E so that was covered. When I had the failure in Dec the tire guy at the truck stop said to run the max pressure that was on the sidewall all the time (in this case 80#). He said that was what they did with the 18 wheelers and duallys should do the same...

Another tire failure on the dually??

I decided to post this here since the general forum gets more traffic, so aways here is the scoop. I had the inner, left side rear tire have tread failure yesterday and it mimiced the failure I had last month on the way to Phoenix which I mentioned in a earlier post. The tire still had air, 75#...

    They walk among us

Years ago in Sea Port Village in San Diego my wife and I were getting ice cream cones and I noticed the price of a single dip was 79 cents and a double was $1.98. I asked if I could have two singles on one cone and save the difference and the counter girl got really confused as did the manager...

    Satellite TV Service Purchase......Need Input

A though is about camping and if you want to take the service with you? We have Dish Network and multiple recievers and take one with us and a spare dish when we go camping or to the vintage races. That way I don't miss the outdoor or speed channels.

Put together a new machine for '08

If it were me, I would add several, three or four, 500GB hard drives instead of just one as you have there. I would use one for the OS (good choice with XP) and one for videos and a couple for digital pictures. The drives here in CA are around $120 for a 500GB and it is easier to put them in all...

Neat gadget for the gun owners

I was at the gun show in San Diego this past weekend and bought something for my wife's pistol named Convert-A-Pell (Convert-a-Pell) and it is really neat. It has an adapter that goes into the barrel sealed by o-rings and then you load a primer into special made cases. Finally you put in a .177...

    Question to the IT department

If you have AT&T DSL, they have a speed check utility that comes as part of the software bundle. I found several things about DSL that might help, first run a direct line from the DSL modem to your house telephone junction box. AT&T doesn't tell you but there will be about a 25 to 30% speed drop...

    Question to the IT department

I just pinged the site here and averaged 43ms over several tries. When I open a new screen on this site it comes up nearly instantaneous? I have a 64bit dual core CPU and 4GB of RAM and a new Nvidia video card so most everything displays pretty fast.

    Question to the IT department

See the post I made earlier about registry changes that will speed up browsing and internet access. It allows additional TCP/IP connections so more data can be moved during any time period. You should do a cold restart to reset the NIC in your PC. As noted here, and by my students, it really works!

I agree it is probably a dealer or area dealer special like the "Jimmy Johnson" special edition pickups in San Diego?

    ICE....36....ICE....36....ICE

I was on I-8 going over the Tecate Divide which is only 4010 feet or something. Maybe there will be snow in Julian this weekend with the storm.....

    ICE....36....ICE....36....ICE

That was what my temp indicator in the overhead started flashing on the way home from Phoenix the other night in the moutains! I thought that was pretty interesting as we all know bridges ice before highways!!!
