    Independent in Denver

    Hi, Could anyone please recommend an independent mechanic in Denver? I'd like to get the front end rebuilt. Axle u-Joints, ball joints, seals (though, none are leaking at this time), and the like. I'd greatly appreciate any referrals.

    You really should consider flushing the cooling system. Lots of sand and crud from the casting process is floating around in there. Then, consider making yourself (or buying) a passive coolant filtration kit.

    ...Why? Aside from the bling, what's the point? You won't pick up any power. If you're just going for the bling factor, then... more power to you...no pun intended. I could think of better ways to spend that money if I wanted bling.

    I don't know how this recall will work if the truck is already tuned with a 3rd party tuner. I realize the tune will be overwritten, but I'm wondering if the new more sensitive "settings" will stay once a 3rd party tune is re-loaded.

    Now, is this 800 miles according to the fuel economy display, or hand calculated? I see 24 MPG on the display, but only about 14.5 hand calculated.

    Your marker lights fell off. Slow down! :D As it's been said before, yes, you can damage any motor with any tuner. The Spartan tunes are all decent, in my experience. Of course, once you get past the 250? 275HP tunes, and over 55PSI of boost, you really ought to consider things like EGR...

    Fuel mileage

    16.8-17.2 on the LieOmeter empty. 15.6'ish - 16.3'ish empty 13.4'ish hand calculated pulling this behemoth. But I am running 4.88's... Trailer's only ~13.5Klbs, but I think what kills my economy is the massive sail (aka front cap) on the trailer. Then again, I never really cared...

    Question Exterior Mirror

    Bring your mirror (the main glass part) in all the way to the electric stop. Look between the edge of the mirror housing the the mirror. You will see a silver tab. Take a screwdriver and insert it in there. It doesn't take much to release the tab by gently pushing on it.

    You will have pressure on all the radiator hoses when the engine is at operating temperatures. At the same time, you will also have pressure under the expansion bottle cap during the same operating conditions (aka. the bottle is also pressurized).

    Stuck Turbo

    I don't know about this whole extended idling screws up turbos idea... I've idled mine (albeit on high idle 1200RPM) for up to 4 days at a time. To be fair, most of the time I've idled it for 14 straight hours for weeks on end, and never had turbo problems. :shrug:

    I've had mine unplugged for a good 3 years now. Just make sure you unplug the connect with the engine OFF.
