Question about tire and wheel fitment.

With my 6" lift and bumper replacement I have room to easily clear 37's, but my 35's rub the radius arm at full turn. Does anyone know what offset I would need to fit 37's without rubbing? Also, if I were to install bushwacker cut outs would I be able to fit 38's? if so does anyone know the...

6.0 catalytic converter and Texas law

I dont really think the inspection places even look to see if there is a cat. Like Scarlet said, they really dont do anything for my truck. Test the lights, the wipers, and brakes....thats about it.

Question Different tire recommendations for same size lift?

The $3000 is the rough estimates I have heard for gears, front and back, installed. That is not a job I would want to do myself.

Question Different tire recommendations for same size lift?

Aint that some $hit.....mine isnt listed. My truck says 3L which isnt on there. I have a subscription there. People online, and in general, seem to have 1 of 2 theories when it comes to their truck. You have the conservative that look to do everything preventative to keep their truck from...

Question Different tire recommendations for same size lift?

This is getting a little off topic, but where do you look to see what gears are in the truck from factory? I looked in the door jams and it seemed to give info on everything but the gears.

Question Different tire recommendations for same size lift?

No I do not. I spoke with a relative who owns a diesel repair shop in Denver and he told me it would not be ne essary for what I do, but I needed to get a programmer to change the shift points. Said if I was off tossing or doing some heavy towing I might want to consider it but not needed for...

Question Different tire recommendations for same size lift?

I asked this on another forum and got no responses, so maybe better luck here.....Lately I have been debating getting a bigger lift, or just trying to cram bigger tires under my current Fabtech 6" lift. While doing research on the 8-10" lifts I have noticed that every company has different...

I don't get it, why was the OP banned, or are you talking about someone else?

Wear & tear from short trips

I am planning to start changing my own oil. Since I don't drive far, even if I do it every 5k, that would only be 2-3 changes a year. No one has really said anything about parts that may wear out because of more starts and not driving it far. Is that not an issue? I was told by a friend, who...

    Update Before and after!

Looks really good. What is your lift and tire size?

    lifts and towing

It was mentioned in one of my threads but don't tuners adjust the tranny shift points to adjust for bigger tires? This may be a retarded idea, but if you don't have a tuner could you just hit the overdrive button just before you go to pass someone?

Wear & tear from short trips

What about only using the Ford Motorcraft filters? I know it does not have to do with short or long distance driving, but after watching some of the videos on powerstrokehelp.com its got me worried about the filters that my local oil change place is putting in using for oil and fuel filters.

Wear & tear from short trips

Like most diesel owners that plan to keep their truck for a long time, I am trying to adjust my maintenance and possible upgrades to make my truck last longer. Given that majority of the superduty owners buy their trucks because they use them for hauling heavy loads and long distance travel, I...

    lifts and towing

Agreed. I guess what I was really saying is that I dont think 37 or 40's on a street queen will be going through trannies as often as a similar truck that pulls alot or offroads. Lift and tires will always add stress and wear things out faster, but I also think how you drive your truck is as...

    lifts and towing

What the guy is saying on youtube makes a lot of since, but I wonder if that applies to street queens(i.e. trucks that dont pull trailers or go mudding). I noticed that truck had a snorkel on it, so Im sure the owner does some serious off-roading which can be hectic on any tranny.

Help Needed Dead in the parking lot

Just wanted to give an update: -FICM -high pressure oil pump fitting -Dummy plugs -JB Weld on back plate(?) that was caused from the old HP fitting hitting the plate, and causing a small oil leak -blue fitting for turbo I got out the door for $1125. Needless to say I have never been...

Help Needed Dead in the parking lot

He told me the price was saving me alot. Said the FICM part alone is $400, and that the labor alone for the high pressure valve at a dealer can run 10 hours of labor(at $100 an hour). Was just curious what others have paid. Thanks

Help Needed Dead in the parking lot

Had a mechanic friend run diagnostics on my truck today and he said my main issue is the High pressure oil Pump quick release fitting. He said when I get that fix I should have the front dummy plugs on high pressure oil rails replaced bc they are known to go out and are located right by the pump...

Help Needed Dead in the parking lot

Ran a diagnostics with my programer before uninstalling it and it said the #5 and 6 glow plug was out. Would that fit the symptoms I listed? Is that something I should go to the dealer for or a diesel shop?

Help Needed Dead in the parking lot

About a week ago I was in the drive threw of a fast food place, turned off the truck to place an order but wouldn't start back up aftwards. It would crank, sounded strong, but wouldn't roll over. I pushed it out of the drive threw, and let it sit while calling some friends for a jump. I decided...

Thinks to look for in a lift kit

Only reason I was considering a leaf spring replacement is because my driver side rear seems to sag just a little bit. Im guessing an add-a-leaf would help that some but wasnt sure. Guess I could just get a basic kit with the block and add-a-leaf and if there is still a sag issue I could do a...

Thinks to look for in a lift kit

Things to look for in a lift kit In the next few months I am planning to get an 8-10" lift kit for my truck. I am not looking to get one of the expensive Rize kits, but I am not trying to get the cheapest thing out there. For any of the guys that have bought a lift or two I am wondering if...
