I see these tools appear to be needed
eBay Motors: Ford auto trans e40d/4r100/axod/ax4s tools (item 130195571707 end time Feb-10-08 14:22:41 PST)
But, besides the fact that I really just want to rebuild a trans...spending 750 for a junkyard trans and then 300 on rebuild kit, couldn't I just pay that money towards this with 2.5 year warranty? eBay Motors: FORD 4R100 OR E40D REBUILT TRANSMISSION GAS 2X2 OR 4X4 (item 370019495420 end time Feb-12-08 09:35:03 PST)
Whaday'all think?
Jesse

i had a crack from the bottom of my starter to the top of the trans. Noticed it when i pulled it out to upgrade the internals. It was a rebuild Jasper unit. No idea how it cracked or if it was cracked when they put it in years ago for the other owner. I ground out the crack and had it welded.

Mine is wider than that. How did you ground it down and how did you get it to seat back to it's original position before welding? Someone was telling me to JBweld it?

NO :dizzy

you could have it TIG'd, but the case is probably worth more as scrap that it is worth to repair...

I pulled it and put the converter and vb in and reinstalled it with no probs. Might be leaning towards driveshaft or flexplate imbalance.
