Do ya'll think that if the housing is in good shape, that I could just replace the wheel (propeller)?

Is there such a kit out there for the 6.0?

If so, this maybe a money saver for me.

EDIT: It just dawned on me, I wonder what the exhaust side of the turbo looks like

this is the intake (compressor) side...what ever went thru that
went THRU the engine and intercooler too !

the exhaust side COULD be fine...if it was FOD (foreign object damage).
if its the bearings then the exhaust side likely has damage too.

you SHOULD be able to replace the shalf bearings and "impellers"

were there any tell tale signs boost gauge wise ?

I can still hit about 32psi without any trouble.

Never heard any kinda of noise that anything went thru the impellers.

Clueless in Alabama :dunno

jeezus ! sorry for the expense...
and i wont even make a crack about
your after market air filter... :innocent

I do not believe the aftermarket filter system has anything to do with this turbo reckage.

As far as I know, which I am wondering if I know anything at all after today :(

You still have a mass airflow sensor don't ya? I mean, it's still in the pipe?

If it's a bearing failure, i'd think you could wiggle the turbine around, a lot. Kinda looks in the pictures like there's a scored ring into the silencer ring. Might just be reflection, I can't tell. If that's the case I'd say the bearings are out of it.

Bad news and sorry to hear it.

check the end play...if the bearings are shot youll have plenty of in/out end play & movement

There is a good bit of wiggle, you can feel it bad too.

and yes, the mass air sensor is intact.

I have no signs of air filter kit damage, and the Banks has been a good system.

I understand why an aftermarket air intake system is being questioned, but if something came thru the filter, wouldn't it show signs of carnage itself?

My filter shows no damage. :dunno

but it doesnt take MUCH....sand, water (drops) will
rip the edges off the fins, theyll become damaged,
outta balance (remember were talkin' 25k rpm +)

balance is critical...its hard to tell
which may have gone 1st...the
bearings or the fins...one could take
out the other <quickly>
