When we relo'd to DFW in '02 my wife wouldn't permit me to move us using one of the 21' Budget trucks toting a trailer so the only way was hiring a carrier but we still hooked up a small 2 axle Uhaul enclosed trailer to the Excursion for odd's and ends like truck & Fox body parts:sweet

I thought about that haveing somebody else move it but we have too many vehicles to move and all my stuff is in storage right now anyway and it all fits (loosly) in a 10x20 foot storage.

The only mustang part i have lying around is a Teksid Aluminum block (bare block) :D - the car has a big future but i have put it on hold while i take care of the house.

Mike, congrats on your upcoming move!! Welcome to Texas from a transplanted Louisianian. Depending on the size of your lawn, you could get a mower like TBar's! Those Cubs were/are very dependable. My dad had a 1947 Farmall Super A. Was a good old tractor. After he passed away, my mom sold it. I learned to drive on it before "graduating" to a car.

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

I think that mower would be a tad too much :D I think my lawn is only about 1/3 of an acre.

Thanks to Google Earth, the the last house on the right (the one with the green arrow ;) ).

Congrats on the move to Texas there Mike:thumbs Myself also been in the truck drivers seat I'd take the same route Bama mentioned but during the daylight hours on snow covered areas.

agreed or make that 3+

i used to live near winchester (virginia)...i made the run more
times than i care to remember (could drive it w/ my eyes shut
and sometimes they almost were).

run i81 to i40 to i30...if its bad run i81 down to birmingham
and pickup i20 over to dallas (ive run that way too when
i rode a motorcycle houston - winchester via atlanta)

keep an eye on the weather...

www.intellicast.com watch out for the white/pink & blue
stuff (snow & ice)

i did it last year...connecticut to houston in JANUARY...pulling my
18ft trailer and a brand new 50k dollar cobra replica...

plan your fuel stops flying j typically has the lowest prices &
can be checked online (on the fly by blackberry phone too):
FLYING J DIESEL PRICING ONLINE

good luck and get some phone numbers 'case you need help or
break down, or the weather gets bad...a laptop might help too
if you need help trouble shooting or running your problems past
forum members...if / when you stop for the night.

houston - winchester....19hrs (with my wife) was the fastest
i ever made the run...ive done it in 21hrs towing...
