"While we don't currently expect an extended outage, 30-plus days would be material to both Navistar and Ford," Nesvold said in a note to clients.

The lawyers will get it figured out.....

its ALL a bunch of legal posturing...total BS...
can you imagine what it means to manufacture the engine
for the #1 selling truck in america !?! its BIG bucks to International
(and ford).

NEITHER company could afford for even a second for this relationship
to end...

F series sales were up 7% from 05-06...would you wanna walk away
from a 7% GAIN on your money ?

Yep they will get it figured out. They are in a relationship right now without a balance. It's like they are arm wrestiling, and going back and forth trying to prove who has the most power in the relationship. So when they figure that out they will get over it.

In a van down by the river...
Cut-and-pasted from one of my posts on another forum:

[Larry the Cable Guy voice] "Well that ain't good..."[/LTCG voice]

Honestly, given how hugely expensive the 6.4 is and how #2 is consistently more costly per gallon than gas now, if I were in the market for a new Ford truck, I'd probably get a V-10. The money I'd save by not springing for a 6.4 PSD would probably buy a nice blower/IC kit and that would put power output into PSD range.

Ford isnt in a bargaining position. Between hemorrhaging money and loss of market share overall they better get this fixed quick or it could be the final nail in their coffin. $60,000 for a truck is inexcusable and that alone will drive people away, so to speak. Getting into a mexican standoff with your engine supplier can only make it worse.

I dont know 'bout that...I certainly understand what your saying but
averaging 9-11mpg 'round town & on the highway w/ the v10 is not
a PAINLESS alternative.

granted 6800 bucks (for the 6.4 si turbo) buys lots of gasoline but
i think the RESALE potential is a NEGATIVE for the v10 equip'd trucks...

folks know gas expensive...and they know a v10 USES lots of gas...
i think its common knowledge that diesels get better mpg...and that
ALONE will be enough to kill the resale of a v10

True, but if folks see that diesel is consistently (at least here in WY) $0.30/gallon more expensive, that might make them re-think going with an oilburner. I don't know about the V-10's engine compartment, but if cab-off repairs are the order of the day for PSD work, that'll make things very expensive post-warranty where, if V-10 work can be done w/o pulling the cab, post-warranty repair costs will be significantly less. It's far too early to speculate but, given the (lousy) resale value of the 6.0 vs. the 7.3, if the 6.4 vs. the 6.0 follows that same pattern you'll be able to pick up a used 6.4 for cheap if you're willing to wait a few years. Just be prepared to pay out the wazoo if it breaks.
