    E40D limping to shop

Ok, I wired up the controller to the pcm last night, and played with it today. I can see that I will probably be in the market for a new rear-end if I keep playing:sweet The lock-up controller works as it is supposed to.:D

    E40D limping to shop

Will do, but everyone that I have told locally about the transmission keeps asking me, "Why did you spend so much money for a re-built transmission?" My answer is to shrug my shoulders and not try to explain it. These are the same people who question my sanity about riding a Harley.

    E40D limping to shop

Transmission swap done. I'll wire up the lock up controller when it gets here. I paid 300.00 for an edjumification of how to swap an E40D, 4wd transmission, and torque convertor, in one hour total time. Interesting to watch someone who does this all day long.:sweet

    E40D limping to shop

Looks like I'll be doing the run tomorrow morning. Transmission is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, and my buddies shop has a lot of vehicles running thru it today. He told me that the guy at the transmission shop next door would do the swap for me for 300.00, and it would take approximately...

    E40D limping to shop

Getting out of my driveway will be easy, downhill, made it up to my garage friday afternoon, and it has been sitting there awaiting the trip to the shop. Problem is when I get to the small town north of me. I have 2 stop signs before I hit the interstate by my house, and the first problem is...

    E40D limping to shop

Good morning. Haven't been on this site in a while, but I have a new built tranny from ATS being delivered either today or tomorrow. I have to get the truck from my house to my buddy's shop which is 45 minutes away. 1st gear is pretty much shot. I've been limping the truck for about 2...

    SCA additive

I saved myself a lot of trouble and bought the Caterpillar pre-mixed stuff. It comes already charged with SCA. Pretty simple.:sweet

    E40D still holding out

No dyno. I had to put the truck thru emissions for the first time this past month. Swamps told me to pull the chip, and it would be fine. He was right. I pulled the cat a long time ago, and the emissions guy put a mirror under my truck, and then asked me if the truck was supposed to have...

    E40D still holding out

I was just thinking this morning, and realized that it has been a year since I installed the baby Swamps in my truck. Most everyone told me that the transmission would go out on me in a short amount of time. I drive the truck hard every day, and it carries an oversize load, every day. I...

    power steerin pump??

A common problem on these trucks, and it happened to me, is one of the lines coming out of the pump will blow off when you least expect it. It pukes the oil out, and no power steering. My pump was whining like yours, and about 6 months later the hose blew off. Pain to drive to the parts...

    smokin!

I've got injectors and a chip, and a heavy load all the time. All I have to do is stomp the throttle, and a big cloud of smoke profusely exits the pipe. It's not something that I like, except on a job-site when I want to smoke out the guys standing next to the truck. :roflmao

    So when do

That's the easiest way to circumvent a word filter program :D

    Aftermarket Injectors, 6.0

I was at Swamps shop and was talking about the 6.0's injectors. I'm curious to see if the problems can be worked out. Tool steel is a booger to work with. I wasn't willing to guarantee not screwing one of the test injectors up by welding on it. Tough cookie to play with.

What's a good price for Fuel Filters now?

I ran into a deal today. The contractor that I work for is moving into a new location, and I was at the new shop, (which housed another contractor), and I noticed a Racor filter on a shelf. Seeing as how the contractor that I work for doesn't own any Ford's, I decided that the fuel filter...

    How should I get banned......

My impression of TDS is that there is not much info about the 6.0, but there is tons of info regarding the 7.3. Seeing as how I have a 10 yr old truck, I'll stick around the site for as long as I keep this old curmudgeon.

    Injector how to.....

Well, after 15 yrs with a ponytail, 2 weeks ago I was working a job across the street from a Walgreen's store. I had a wild hair up my butt, and went across the street and bought a hair cutting kit. I got one of the guys on the job to cut my ponytail off, and I proceeded to do the sheep...

    Injector how to.....

Hey Bean, Taking that rear bolt off of the passenger side is easy on my truck from the top, but I have heard that it is different for every truck because of variations in engine placement against the firewall.

    Injector how to.....

Very nice write-up. I especially like the purge technique where the liquids spew everywhere. :sweet You can do it the correct way, but what is the fun in that. :roflmao I have to say, I thought you were older. I showed the picture of the happy mechanic to the wife, and told her, here...

    Injectors In

Mike, Here's a funny for ya. Thursday afternoon, a day after I re-installed the passenger side injectors, I pulled in the driveway, and there was oil pouring out under the truck. I looked down the driveway, and there was a line of oil coming from the road. Didn't know what to think, so...

    Injector removal

I changed my fuel filter 2 weeks ago, and some trash was stirred up blocking the nozzles on number 1 and 3 injectors. Dave cleaned the four injectors that I brought to him, and I should be good to go, after I grab a bite to eat. :thumbs I asked him if I could snap a few pictures at his shop...
