    pulling the check valves out of the pump does the same thing as the HPX..adding the HPX gives you 2 more chances for an oil leak...

    it still has to get through the IC before it gets to the heads any way's...them tubes in the IC are not all that big...i would still change the oil right off though..the 38R spools faster and flow's 33% more air then stock and handle up to 40 LB of boost.i see about 200* drop in EGT's with...

    if it was the exhaust side of the turbo the only place the parts can go is out the tail pipe....if it was the composure side it would have to pass though the intercooler then past the screen in the plenums before it could go to the motor...

    a bad boost leak should not make it idle bad..it should just loose power and smoke..but the bang does sound like one came undone.. IMHO friends don't let friends buy silicone boots..when the silicone softens from oil and/or heat you will need to re tighten..you will need to keep an eye on them...

    you can keep the hubs locked in year round if you want..it wont hurt a thing but your MPG...mine stay locked all winter long unless I'm going on a long trip...you don't want to pull the transfer case in 4x4 on dry black top and take turns..that's when chit breaks..if your going in a strait line...

    this can give you a better idea on what the IPR looks like.the IPR is to the left of the pump in this pic with the tin nut on it..if the tin nut is loose..it can make your truck skip..go easy on the nut if you need to tighten it..it can strip very easy..to see if the nut is loose..grab the wire...

    i love the 38R...lower EGT's by about 200*, less black smoke and better spool up...i have a lot better power all the way though the RPM's..it does whistle quite bit and mine has some chatter to it but nothing i cant handle..

    custom tunes from one of the sponsors will give you better MPG then a off the shelf tune...one thing to remember is winter blend fuel is out..your going to loose some MPG because of it...check all your IC boots for any kind of leak as well as the up pipes

    are you talking 7.3 power stoke?? i ask cause we dont have timing belts or chains....its all gear drive..i think pulling the rad. to get to the pump would be better..if it is a 7.3....do not pull the heads if you dont have to..it will just give you more problems down the road...them heads dont...
