Pulling in 4 x 4 with hub problem

This morning I was getting my trailer in the signiture out of the Concert field after an overnight rain, result of huricane Irene. When I hit the first mud hole the truck got stock and just stopped. I had to get towed by a GM and it is now the talk of the town. What I noticed when I got...

Pros and Cons 06 and 07 6.0 Diesel

I have been towing for the last 4 years and programed. I made the biggest mistake of believing the coolant was clean and did not analysed the dirt collecting in the Degas tank. The Gold Junk will leave a sludge in the Degas tank and you don't need gauges to tell that the cooler is plugging...

    tuners

I tow with the Programer Max Energy by Hypertech, set to level 3 and 114HP Gain. Its an awsome programer, been using it for over 3 years with a stock truck. The torque is at least 20/30% higher at the same speeds. I found that at 10PSI Boost gives me best MPG and I can do most hills quit well...

    rough start and running

I did the change to the STC fitting and its a fairly easy job. No dealer touches my trucks. My truck was a hard starter for 3 years and they blamed the batteries while it was on warranty. I could live with it by plugging it in. But once warranty over I repaired it. The old fitting was...

5 Years and Look at the rust in the fittings

Did some temperature readings on EOT and ECT and now I have to rebuild the oil cooler. Will do it on monday. There is not enough flow backward to cause any solid movement. I took the filter apart after 500 miles and there was some dirt but not enough to be concerned about loose particles.

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Change the oil in my SD. Had to get the filter at the dealer for the first time Had to fork out $43 for it Ouch. Took a pic of both filters Fram and Ford and the Numbers are the same. The one on the left is the new Ford and the Right is old Fram Here in Canada I could not bye...

5 Years and Look at the rust in the fittings

I went to my parts supply store and showed the clerk a Ranger fuel filter and he said you don't want to bye this one so he showed me this one for $7. I use to have a Ranger and the filters on the fuel side realy were heavy when I changed them, so I figured its possible that it will hold a lot...

5 Years and Look at the rust in the fittings

I had a GM for 9 years using Dexcool and never saw any rust in the cooling system. This is a first for me in the last 39 years of working on a my vehicles.

5 Years and Look at the rust in the fittings

This week I did a flush of the Ford antifreeze and installed Peak Diesel Product and surely did not regret going that direction. Every fitting I removed and hoses that I cut was covered with rust, and that was after I tried to flush for a complete day. Actually a lot was in the flush water...

    Wasn't Thinking!!

Here in Canada or in New Brunswick the nozzles are all in green, but the nozzle size is now small like the gas size. It use to be bigger and I could feel the difference. I have been driving diesels for over 20 years now and never did the mistake because when I fuel the Diesel vehicles it's...

Batteries loose power after parked a while

I just checked the loads at each battery cable just out and did some checks again, the GPS takes a load of .2 Amp and I have it set to on all the time unless I manually shut it off. The trailer brake controler takes .1 Amp All disconnected I still have a drain of .6 Amps. I...

Batteries loose power after parked a while

Ever since I have owned my truck the batteries have been a problem to keep charged. Last weekend I purchased a digital Amp meter and today I checked the loads on my batteries. After parked overnight, the current draw from the batteries is 3.92 amps. The load is shared equally by both...

    Towing

Thats what I have been calling the chips for the last 12 years, GM sites that I was on when I owned the 6.5L we use the term a lot, and we had to install our own chips because there was hardly any supports those days. My truck was only getting 16MPG and work hard to improve the millage during...
