i've had the same problem for 5 years. dealer quoted $2000 for a new turbo plus installation. only problem is that this is the 2nd turbo already. i do let the truck sit for a week at a time and thats what kills em. i have a 2004 so i had the throttle body plate, i romoved that and unplugged...

    transmission shift delay

dealers are dumb, they changed my headgaskets and didnt put fluid back in my rad, luckily a checked everything before i left the dealer. And they didn't connect my dump switch. I would check the fluids yourself, some trucks need to be checked while running. Could be break in. Or just the...

so is cool down still important? u know, with all the advancements in oil and everything i heard it is not a concern, i find that hard to believe, probably boils down to preference.

    COKING & Turbo

good question. Fluid coking is a process which converts heavy residual crude into lighter products such as naptha, kerosene, heating oil, and hydrocarbon gases found this at wiki Coke (fuel) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    COKING & Turbo

oil coking as i understand it happens with the cooling oil. it sits in the red hot turbo gizmos and boils or something and then the deposits stick to everything. oil degrades i guess, further complicating things. so when a turbo timer is added, it times 15 minutes and lets the truck run after...

    turbo whine

ive heard that the turbos don't like to sit more than 5 or 6 days. they get all screwed up by sitting there, drive it at least once a week and that should keep it working properly. i drove mine all the time and only had the problem u listed happen to me twice over 30,000 kms. oh, and when...

    SCT / Edge Attitude

egt probe should be pretty generic. sct X3 has 2 analog input, so as long as the sensor module for the egt has an analog out put u should be fine. my mechanic said the sct X3 has on the fly, maybe he is confused. it looks like it has lots of features, anyways, mine is still coming, let you...

    SCT / Edge Attitude

depends if u keep it plugged in, on the fly is controlled by the handheld monitor, live wire is dash mounted where as the X3 is just sitting there, most keep it in the glovebox, i'm trying to figure out what i'll do with mine to keep it handy. check out sct at SCT Flash Devices - MORE Power . ...

    Turbo spool and downpipe size?

sounds like what i want is a straight pipe on a butterfly valve. i could keep the stock exhaust and then when i'm out of my small nieghbour hood i could open the valve on the straight pipes. noise is very important to keep quiet. i seen this on an audi S4 but seems expensive

    Turbo spool and downpipe size?

i think i'll keep the muffler and take the cat off, this should keep it quiet and give me the power i need with the X3

Truck doesn't want to start in park

u can manually move the transmission case into park undernieth, if it is in park undernieth and on the column, then it could be a sensor. on my truck I broke a little piece of plastic that holds the shift linkage inplace near the tranny. had to replace the whole linkage, hahah, under...

    suggestions on stereo stuff??

hey arrowstrap, i've heard that pillow stuffing (fiberfill) inside the enclosure might help with the hallow sound. try putting lots in, don't stuff it in, but let it sit in comfortably. don't let it hit the spider of the sub. i use this stuff when i make fierglass enclosure. helps a little...

spaghetti, no more (new amp rack installed)

I agree. I had a hatchback years ago. when i pointed the subs towards the rear it was at least twice as loud inside! in my truck i pointed the subs up to start, but it wasn't very loud, then i pointed them towards the front window. this was so loud quarters would bounce on my sun roof...
