    OK, here's an update: took out the chip took out the 10K mod truck started fine all weekend. It was cloudy and cool. Today the truck is sitting in the sun. Wouldn't start -mad ...until I opened the windows and let the breeze cool off the interior! I gotta loose wire or harness...

    Mike, I think that the tach diagnostic only applies to 2002 and up trucks. My Y2K tach does not move when cranking.

    At work update :rolleyes: : 10AM: wouldn't start 12:30PM: started, drove around to operating temperature 2PM: :dunno Doesn't the fact that I've never shut down after starting suggest the ignition system other than the PCM :dunno ? I sure hope some of you are deriving some pleasure...

    Batteries were disconnected...taking no chances there. Made it to work fine (as has been the norm)...check back @ 3PM PDT, if there's no post, then it means I'm on my way home -popcorn :) how's this for a theory: the struck started fine when it was cold because the harness was tighter...

    Hey, I was intending to remove the bolt holding the harness to the PCM, and discovered it was rather loose...so I tightened it up and will give it a go tomorrow. I'll take the tools to work to remove the chip, and that will be a good test, if she won't start up. Crossing my fingers...

    They pulled the codes yesterday, and all that was there was turbo/wastegate codes related to the hot chip.

    Well, after again realizing that it wouldn't start, and that a tow would be three hours away (and that AAA will not tow a 1-ton...), I asked my wife to again come get me... The truck started again, and I got it home. I think my wife is gonna shoot me. I'm not gonna try for the trifecta...
