Question Any experience with the Pace Edwards Jackrabbit Tonneau Cover?

Does anyone have one of these installed on their truck? I'm thinking of plunkin' down some dough for this, but I'm concerned with any rattling (if any) that may come from it since it mentions it has aluminum interlocking channels that make up the cover. I live on a road where the local school...

    Diesel prices are falling.

I was there in July, got skunked, but everyone else scored some halibut, so we divided it up between the six of us and I got a little (seems only fair since we used my truck to tow my buddies 26' travel trailer that we overnighted in). What were your fishin' for and how'd ya do down there?

Oh, it'll be okay, I'm not worried at all, our House or Senate energy relief bill should be coming through any time now, or at least by 11:59 tonight! :sweet I'm callin' up a heating company next month and gettin' the old furnace tuned up, just had the septic pumped and a window replaced, I...

Successful caribou hunt, pics and story included!

Yup, that's where I parked. I tried to pull off the side as much as possible so you big guys could get by. I do remember seeing your rig up there. There was a rig pulling a water tank parked next to the pump shack when we showed up on Wednesday night, and on Saturday, it wasn't there anymore...

Oh, man, they were goooooooood. The day we shot the bulls, we took some of the backstrap and fried it up in camp, it was so tender, we were cutting it with plastic forks. We just finished dinner my wife cooked, caribou roast coated in steak dust, minced garlic, salt and pepper, then she threw...

Oy, still $5.09 up here is Fairbanks, Alaska. It dropped from a high of $5.25, but I was hoping it'd drop a little faster than it has been. I can't let the fuel gauge get below the half mark or I'll hit the $100 cutoff on the pumps.

You should have come down and said HI! We're all about braggin' rights, we would have told you the whole detailed story. What were you driving? I remember seeing a truck up that direction (a white superduty ext cab with a rack over the bed), but I don't remember seeing Crummy (probably a...

Ohhh, two tone brown and red. I had a serious brown and blue going on there, didn't get a picture of it though. It rained and snowed pretty hard until the Yukon River, then whoever it was, in there infinite wisdow, decided to water the roads, talk about a slop fest. At one point, the rear of...

Thanks, everybody! I got the cape to the taxidermist, and the antlers to another one to preserve the velvet. They said they can repair the broken antler, so I'm really happy about that! I drove my truck through the car wash and had it detailed yesterday, just before it rained. Oh well, the...

Last Wednesday (the 30th), my dad, brother, an old family friend, and I drove up the Dalton Highway with my diesel pulling my brothers brand spanking new Sea Ark Predator w/ a 200hp Mercury Optimax. The drive was around 420 miles with only two gas stations in between. We drove to Coldfoot, and...

    Speaking of hot summers.............

Seriously, are highs have only been around 60, maybe 65, Anchorage is even worse, this summer is going down as one of the coldest summers on record for Anchorage, they've hardly seen a day over 70. In Fairbanks, all we're getting is rain, we've actually have severe flooding, almost worse than...

Got 'er stuck in a river, couple of questions...

I went caribou hunting in Alaska up the Dalton highway about 50 miles south of Prudhoe Bay. We trailered my brother's Sea Ark Predator (20' riverboat with 200hp Mercury Optimax) and needed to offload the boat in the Sagavanirktok (Sag) river. As I was backing WAY up, completely into the river...

    Question Factory Navigation Radio

I bought a used 2006 Explorer out of Michigan with the Nav system on it, and it had the 1P version from Navteq. I asked Jodi at Seekins, and he gave me the number (probably the same one you got) and they said the 6P version included Alaska and Canada. Sounds like you did more research than I...

Question Where can I run my amp wire thru the firewall?

Thanks, Coastal! Looks like this is going to be easier than I though, even the firewall insulation in the cab has a perforated flap on the other side of that hole that covers it up. Thanks for the picture, too. Took me exactly two seconds to find it!

Question Where can I run my amp wire thru the firewall?

I've been looking for a dummy plug or some sort of hole but can't seem to find one. I also heard that there should be a hole somewhere for the clutch assembly (mine's an automatic) that I could use to run the wire as well, but I can't find that one either. So where are you guys running your...

Pics of Polar Bears chasing a dude around their trucks...

I was up there in the early nineties, that place looks EXACTLY the same. I was training the water and wastewater operators how to collect source water samples to determine what their water treatment system needed to do to make their water potable. They stuck me in the one hotel (if that's what...

I don't know the outcome of the guy, but I haven't heard anything in the news about anyone being eaten in Kaktovik, Alaska by a polar bear. If I hear anything, I'll pass it along.

    Warm it up ?

I've been parking my truck outside, and it gets down to the 20's here in Alaska. I'll go out and start it, let it run until it automatically idles higher (about 1000rpm), let it go for about 30 seconds, then hit the brake pedal which makes it go back to normal idle, then off I go.
