Question Blue spring update on the 6.0

I did mine a few years ago, I don't think it would show any performance benefit, just keeps the injectors healthy.

    Injector cleaning Hot Shot's Secret

Hss Tried a 1/2 dose in my strong running 06. I had noticed a little smoke on initial start - just a puff. That smoke is now gone and no romps (not even a little on cold start. Mileage about the same, like I said, my engine was running strong before I tried it. I believe my temp spread...

    Banks power info plz

The stock intake has been shown to be good to very high power levels (higher than what you are pulling) but with superior filtering. I'd stick with stock on the intake, you can spend your money better somewhere else.

    Crap!!!!!!!

Dogman Hang in there X2 - but you don't need me saying that. These are pretty complicated engines, you make an educated guess what the problem is - most times you get it right, sometimes you f*%k it up. None of us have ever got it right the first time all the time. I'd hate to be the guy...

    Question factory boost guage

Boost is good, but the temp gauges are really just temperature range HI MEd LOW indicators - not good. Fuel pressure, EGT, volts most important add ons IMO

Question EGR replaced by dealer will that last forever

Are you talking about the EGR valve or the EGR cooler? You can do preventative maintenance once a year by pulling the valve and cleaning it so it doesn't coke up too much (I replace the O rings when I do this). The OE cooler will eventually fail, and I think the Bulletproof diesel EGR cooler...

    Alternator

Matt and Nascar Matt; Nice post, shows the difference in alternators well. Nascar: The 6G alternator is more robust overall putting out more amps at idle and top end, the big improvement though is to get the heavy duty rectifier (internal) option. When the alternators fail, it is...

    Help Needed DTC Code Help!

2623 relates to the ICP. Probable causes are open circuit, or a short to ground, or a stuck icp. You might want to remove your chip and start from scratch - see if that helps.

    Question Do-Dad Mod

It is one's individual choice, however if the forum is to be helpful - we don't need wild conclusions with questionable merit. Some newcomer with marginal mechanical know how might just buy in......

    Question Do-Dad Mod

Red 6 You were getting 180 - 210, and with the mod you get 390 - 480+!!!!!! Double the mileage???? Go sell your snake oil somewhere else.

    Question Do-Dad Mod

Don't bother - you'll shorten the life of your air filter, cause you'll be ramming everything directly into the filter - rain, bugs, leaves, dirt.

    Alternator

Did you get the heavy duty internal rectifier? A heavy duty alternator is no good with normal duty rectifier, cause that's what usually blows in the alternator. Also - re-check the connections you made to the alternator.

    Alternator

It is a good quality alternator - way better than stock, but it is not putting out for whatever reason - time to check out the alternator.
  18. J

    Alternator

Matt Something to keep in mind is that when a battery loses a cell, it is a constant load on the alternator - alot of alternators die because the battery(s) were weak. When you replace the alternator - make sure the batteries are solid.

HI temps Keeping to the KISS principle - is the rad clear and unobstructed? Not stuffed up with bugs or mud?

    best fuel filters??

Filters Ford or international filters only. These engines got a bad rap from aftermarket filters that failed or didn't fit properly. Check this out. YouTube - Motorcraft Power Stroke Diesel Filter Comparison

    Amsoil filter location

Texas AM Yes if you put the oil filter on the passenger side you have to be very careful of the downpipe, but it can be done. Be careful of aftermarket tranny filters, there is a balance from the factory and there has been cases where the extra filter causes less flow to the cooler overheating...

bypass I have the same thing as you coolant and bypass - so I put it on the passenger side rail, vertical. Made up an adapter to attach it to holes in the frame that were already there.

Bill I think when you get work like that done (not to mention the money) its really good to have a knowledgeable guy like Bill to make sure its done right the first time.

Ihc Don't want to hijack the thread, but what don't you like about Bill from Powerstokehelp. He may be rough around the edges, but alot of experience with 6.0's. I don't find much to fault with his common sense experienced based approach.
