    Towing - Performance

X3 What Joe said! Chip + no gauges = easily ruined motor. (especially if towing a heavy load) I'd bet that its surge as well. I can't say I've used the wicked wheel, as I upgraded to a bigger turbo :D

    Question unit bearing time....

Ive done both sides on mine twice now. I never had too much trouble getting the studs out. Just whacked the bearing in the vice, and then double nut the studs and out they come.

note Fuel mileage after some changes

Recently I had to replace my turbo as the bearings went south. I replaced it with a Garrett BB unit. I added an oil pressure and water temp gauge at the same time. I also switched motor oil from 15W40 to 10w40. Before all of this I was only getting about 13 - 14 mpg. (with the DP-Tuner chip...

    Truck VIOLENTY shakes after lift

I'm also suspicious the the trac bar alignment in the last photo. That looks way out compared to the drag link. If the angles don't line up, you will get wobble to a certain extent

    Big Rig Wheel Kits

The 99 to 04 F450s don't use 8x170 bolt pattern. They use the 8x225 pattern. And yes, our options are a bit limited for this bolt pattern. :(

Help Needed Turbo Down, advise on replacement unit

Sorry for being so long to reply. Work has been running me ragged. I ended up with a the 38R because the core price has become quite high for the stocker unit. and it would cost me in excess of $300 to ship the core back to the states from the UK. Which made replacing the stocker with an...

Help Needed Turbo Down, advise on replacement unit

Right, while I was accelerating yesterday (not hard acceleration) heard a sound from the turbo, and saw a puff of smoke from the tail pipe. Everything then was back to normal, aside from a whine from the turbo when giving it throttle. Checked it last night after things cooled down and found...

    Transmission Grinding with 4WD low

Sounds like your transfer case had not shifted completely back into 4hi. Sometimes the gears line up just right that the transfercase can't engage properly until one of the gears moves in relation to the other.

    AutoEnginuity

What all can you do with it besides the normal scaning? I know it can do the buzz test/cylinder contribution tests. Can you change settings (EG tire sizes, and axle ratios) in the ECM with it?

    Engine Compression

Ford did downrate early 99 up to 2001 PSDs that came with slushboxes. I was under the impression that 235hp was the automatic hp rating, while 250/275 depending on the truck was for the 6 speeds. After 2001 they were rated the same whether auto or manual

    2 Stroke Oil Works!!!

let us know how it performs, I'm strongly considering this for my truck if I can find a suitbale 2 stroke oil here in the U.K.

My Experiences and a few questions

What is a good place to get the motorcraft/beru plugs? Are there any tricks to keeping the old plugs from breaking off when removing them? I need to update my sig soon. I have exhaust temp (pre turbo), and trans temp gauges, no boost though. I've only managed to set an overboost code a...

My Experiences and a few questions

Greetings, Finally got my truck registered/taxed here in the U.K. about a month ago. Glad to be driving it again. Not being able to legally drive it for nearly a year was drving me mad. Part of getting the truck road legal in the UK is the annual MOT (vehicle safety check) part of which...

Lets see those SuperDuty Trucks!! (OFFICIAL PICTURE THREAD)

I've just realised that I never posted pics of mine. I was sure I had. Here They are. Enjoy. I did all of the paintwork almost 2 years ago before I moved to the U.K. I brought the truck with me.

    door chime sounding over 75mph

Sounds to me like you've unplugged the GEM (Generic Electronic Module). I had a gremlin in my truck for awhile that turned out to be that same cable you've disconnected. The GEM controls the interior lights, the door chime, and a few other things.

    badges?

If you really want the Fx50 badges gone, you could always weld the holes shut, bondo, and a respray on the fenders. The fenders are easy to remove, though a bit of a pain to re-align. I've done this on my truck, and it really cleans up the sides. I know this picture isn't the best, but it...

    Power Steering sucks

These trucks seem to do it from time to time when you run anything wider than a stock tire. I had 28575R16s on the front for awhile, and mine did it in my driveway without fail. When I changed to 255 / 85 R16 it cleared right up. I'd say that your truck is probably fine, and that this is...

Changing your clutch for the DIY’er and the clinically insane, by Hoss 350.

I did mine last February before I moved (with the truck) to the U.K. and it's really not that bad. Just need to be patient with it. Seperate the transfer case!!!!! It makes life much easier, and its easy to do. As hoss said, do be sure to use a proper tranny jack. The ZF is a medium...
