    HPOP questions

Left it plugged up overnight and it was definitely warm because I could feel the heat, but it still cranked more than 10 seconds before it fired.

    HPOP questions

I assume you mean with the block heater plugged in? I haven't tried that (but I will tonight) but it has the long cranking issue even when its 90* outside, so I really dont think that plugging up the heater would matter. I just replaced the glow plugs (used Bosch) and valve cover harnesses when...

    HPOP questions

I checked it and it was nearly full........maybe a half inch (definitely less than 1") from the top. Would it not being COMPLETELY full be an issue? "SHOULD" it be COMPLETELY full? Thanks for the response.

    HPOP questions

My early '99 has 350k miles on it and it has always been VERY reliable. I've never had to do anything major to it, but I did replace the injectors (Swamps split shots) about 3 years ago.....not out of necessity, but by choice. Over the last year or so, the cranking time has become extended...

    fuel bowl cover

A while back, my truck laid down (wound up being a bad valve cover gasket) and I had to have it towed. I was a long way from home, so I had it towed to my brother's house who was much closer to make the tow bill more manageable. To make a long story shorter, either he or the towing company broke...

    Feeling down on power.

    That shouldn't be an issue.:sly

    Feeling down on power.

Yeah, that's taking a little longer than I thought. I've only put about 50 miles on her so far and it's better (was requiring extended cranking to start), but I think it'll still take a few more miles to get it all completely purged.

    Feeling down on power.

Just an update...........I fired her up last night and she's running AWESOME. Not only have I gotten back the power that I've gradually lost and not noticed, but now have more than it EVER did with just the chip. Quite a noticeable difference. Kudo's to the guys at Swamp's that helped me out and...

    Feeling down on power.

Yeah, but will that show that weak injectors are the problem? I've had it scanned by two different guys (both are very knowledgeable on Powerstrokes) and there are no codes or errors coming up. Fuel pressure is good, HPOP is good, so........:dunno I've got the injectors in and just got my...

    Feeling down on power.

If it's none of the above, might be weak injector(s). I've been all through mine and have came to the conclusion that has to be the problem. Got some new ones on the way from Swamp's and will be installing this weekend. If that's not it, I'm gonna be UPSET:rant.......but at least I'll have a...

    6 spd clutch question?

I'll throw in another vote for South Bend clutches. MUCH better than OEM......especially if your engine is mod'd.

    blown rear end. fantastic.

I agree with the below......stay away from the Detroit. They are very stout and function well but they ratchet a lot, are noisey, and have a tendency to drag the tires around corners and cause accellerated tire wear. ARB is the shizzle. You'll pay more for them, but they're well worth it...

    help?

Sounds like you have a bad hub or needle bearing in the hub. It is a "free floating" axle, so there is no bearing at the outside of the axle tube to keep the axle shaft from flopping around when the hub bearings are shot.

Well after 46 views and no info', I supose they're even harder to come by than I thought. I had a great one (he was in Maryville which is where I work....I see you're from Maryville as well)too bad the economy drove him under.:(

    Clunk noise in front end

The one that I borrowed from Autozone would not work and I had to borrow a kit from a friend. Autozone showed a couple of different kits on their website but only had 1 in stock so I gave it a shot. Unfortunately I can't remember the part number of the loaner that I tried.

    Question Delay wipers

I just went through the same thing after my truck was involved in a wreck and it was driving me crazy. Finally, they quit working at all. A new wiper motor solved the problem. That may not be what you wanted to hear, but it may save you from chasing your tail like I did. I thought it was some...

Question anybody know a good 7.3 mechanic in east TN?

The subject says it all. Anybody know a good one in east TN? I've been having some minor rough running issues lately and my longtime mechanic went out of business back when the economy went south. I do NOT wanna take it to a stealer and would like to find somebody else that knows...

    Question Clutch repair advice

The OEM clutches are known to sling springs. That's what happened to mine and my mechanic (who works almost exclusively on Powerstrokes) said it's not uncommon. I've had no issues since going to a Southbend clutch and it's much stouter.:sweet

    Question Oil Consumption

I don't wanna hi-jack the thread, but is the IPR and FPR the same thing or are there separate regulators for the injectors? The reason I ask is my truck has recently started running a little sluggish, especially when cold, and a local mechanic has diagnosed the problem to be the IPR...

Question Pre March 99 vs Post March 99 Hubs - Interchangeability?

To be exact, I believe that the hub/rotor change was as follows......on and before 3/21/99 was the "old style" (10mm flange).....on and after 3/22/99 was the new 13mm flange. I changed my early '99 hubs and rotors over to the newer style because they are cheaper and easier to find.
