    Mileage on other 7.3's??

    I'm averaging 17.5 on mixed driving and 11 towing 11,000lb 5th wheel. I have 106,000 on the odometer. Guess I can't complain. All stock too. My mileage really drops above 65MPH, so I keep it down around 60ish. That seems to be the sweet spot on the highway.:burnit

    Can anyone tell me if on a 1999 SD 7.3 with Auto transmission, you can monitor the transmission temerature without any modifications or sensors added, just using something like the Scangauge II plugged into the computer monitor connector/diagnostic port?

    I don't know of any of my friends that have a scanner. I'm not real familiar with all the acronyms associated with the 7.3 PSD. Not sure what the ICP connector is or the DS head & the lifting ring. Can you be easier on me? LOL. :D

    This just started. When the truck is cold, it idles smooth. After 20 minutes or so of driving, the idle starts getting rough like a gas engine does when it starts missing. Doesn't seem to affect running going down the road. Maybe I got a bad load of fuel? I'm not getting a "Water in Fuel" light...

    Anybody having this problem? This is my first winter with the truck. The turbo doesn't spin up when the engine is cold. Once the engine starts to warm up (maybe 5 minutes) the turbo spools up fine. Is this normal with temps in the 20s and low 30s? :burnit

    Oil Leak :(

    Are you sure that's where it is coming from? Could it be from the top of the oil filter? I had kind of the same leak on mine and it ran back and dripped down the front of the bell housing. Ended up being my oil filter had rattled loose after 4700 miles! i caught it in time. Check yours and see...

    Subie, I agree with Scarlet. I own one of these and I purchased it this year when it only had 85K on the odometer. So far, so good. Great truck! I get between 16-19 MPG not towing on the highway. Some of my friends get better. The Lie-o-meter says I'm getting 21 most of the time on the highway...
