Found another reason to have a dually!!!

I like my 1 ton SRW, but I sure like to look at a curvy truck, too.

    4x4 not working??

Leaks in the vacuum lines to the hubs commonly cause the symptoms you describe.

    Transmission fluid and longevity

We have the heat under control with a 6.0 cooler hheynow. So, no worries there. I was more concerned with how the stock clutches and seal stand up to the synthetic oils. 01smokinsd, the manual says Mercon and the dipstick says Mercon. Smokey, I understand what the TSB says, but I wanted to get...

That sure speaks well of Amsoil.

    Transmission fluid and longevity

I did not see a Mercon only fluid listed on Amsoil's site. And the Mobil Mercon fluid is not synthetic. Only Mobil 1 is synthetic. The reason we want to use the synthetic is for it's heat resistance and longer drain intervals. Otherwise we would continue to use dino fluid.

    Transmission fluid and longevity

Perhaps I should re-state my question. I will be changing the fluid in my dad's 2002 PSD auto 4x4 CC dually soon, and he is asking about synthetic transmission fluid. We have always used dino Dexron III/Mercon because the owner's manual states to only use that fluid and NOT MERCON V OR DUAL...

    seat belt indicator

If you have access to a mill you could just make a copy of the metal piece of the seat belt latch and stick it in there when you want the chime off. Make it a little longer than normal so you can get it back out, though.

    Transmission fluid and longevity

No stockers running the Amsoil, huh?

    Transmission fluid and longevity

I will be changing the tranny fluid in my dad's 02 350 CC 4x4 DRW soon. We have installed a 6.0 cooler and changed the standard Dexron III/Mercon every 30k miles since he bought it. We are considering going with the Amsoil Universal ATF, as he has Amsoil in the diffs and transfer case and is...

    1st time using B20

I plan on running a tank of B5 (all we can get around here) before my next filter change for that reason.

    1st time using B20

Biodiesel is an incredible solvent, and will clean out any junk in the tank, lines, or anywhere else in the fuel system. This is why so many people have said be ready to change out your filter. Did the filter look junked up when you changed it? I don't know about the blends, but B100 will...

    ceramic or not?

I have heard that the ceramic pads will wear rotors really bad, because they are extremely hard. Any truth to this?

    Oil Pan Replacement

Couldn't you clean all of the paint and rust off of the spot and weld a pad over the leaky spot? Then coat it with POR-15 or some other coating.

    Fuel Additive

I run Stanadyne Lubricity Formula in every tank, and a shot of Powerservive Diesel Kleen (grey bottle) every now and then to clean up the injectors. Read this article before you make a decision. Lucas did not fare too well, BTW. Lubricity Additive Study Results - Diesel Place

    Amsoil ATF

    Good choice for synthetics.

    Synthetic in tcase

Go for it. Synthetics in the tranny, diffs, and x-fer case is a good idea, as they are commonly abused and ignored.

    MOBIL SYNTHETIC ATF ?????

The Amsoil is a certified ill for MANY different applications. You will be OK with the Mobil1 Synthetic fluid, and it's a good choice for long life.

    Tranny Fluid

There is a good write up on here somewhere about how to change your own fluid and get most of the old stuff out. I have used it twice, and it worked well. If you are going to change the fluid every 30k, watch your tranny temp(you do have a gauge, right?), and don't tow heavy go with the standard...

    Rotella/Amsoil Synthetic?

If you want a full synthetic, then Rotella is not the way to go. It is not a true synthetic, but Amsoil, Redline, and Royal Purple are. Rotella Syn is a very good oil, though.

    Synthetic Oil Filters

Rotella "Synthetic" is not really a synthetic. Just highly refined petroleum. Not a bad oil at all, just not a "full synthetic." I would recommend that you use a Fleetguard Stratapore, Purolator PureOne, or Amsoil Ea synthetic media filter. Fleetguard can be had at genosgarege.com, and the...

    Fluid Capacities?

Thanks, Dan. That will do. Where did you find that on the Amsoil website?

    Fluid Capacities?

I did a search, but I could not come up with anything definative. Could someone please list the fluid capacities for a 2002 F-350 auto 4x4 dually? Transfer case and front and rear axles. I am going to place an AMSOIL order for my truck and my father's, and I need to have an exact amount since it...

    Western Diesel Gauges

CSIPSD, I completely agree with you on the Isspro quality. I installed 5 sets for friends, 2 PSD's and 3 CTD's, but i really like the look of the Western Diesel gauges. Isspro is #1 in customer service, too!
